Subaru Impreza WRX - Impreza Dreams
The Series Is Divided Into Two Different Classes
Along with the desire to utterly dominate came the switch to double-wishbone type suspension all around and the removal of all-wheel drive. With that same mentality, Cusco attacked the engineering task of creating a series of dampers capable of properly harnessing this beast. A set of Cusco Comp-X dampers were developed at all four corners, using incredibly stiff 20kg/mm springs up front and 22kg/mm springs in the rear. G-forces under braking are often said to be the most impressive force felt in a track car. To that measure, the Cusco Impreza uses Alcon water-cooled six-pot calipers squeezing front 380x36mm brake rotors and rear 355x32mm rotors. You won't find a bolt-on kit for these big-dollar calipers-trust us. Equally impressive is the six-speed sequential transmission with gear ratios that are changed by the team based on the racetrack and which spins up the Cusco Type-RS one-way limited slip differential with a 3.70:1 final drive.
Here at 2NR, we always have an eye out for aesthetics. Like chimpanzees, anything shiny or curvy will attract our attention. But we love race cars too, so nothing is quite better than a combination of the two. The Cusco Impreza has enough technology and enough capital to be both fast and beautiful-the two key ingredients to attracting sponsors. The gorgeous 18-inch Racing Hart CP-035 rims are wrapped in 280/710R-18 Yokohama Advan racing slicks, providing a balance of looks and speed. The Impreza's body has been worked over inside and out, meticulously forged and massaged out of carbon fiber and steel. The interior has no stereo or carpeting either; the theme is pure racing. Beside the assortment of instruments, switches, pedals and knobs, the only bits inside are an expertly prepared roll cage, a Bride racing bucket seat, a Takata harness, and a view from inside one of the few road racing Subaru cars on earth. Every piece of this car exudes professional preparation, and it is for this reason that the #77 Cusco Subaru Advan Impreza has captured the hearts of so many Subaru racing enthusiasts. Driven by Katsuo Kobayashi and Tatsuya Tanigawa, the #77 and its ultra-aggressive looks have been menacing the tracks on the JGTC schedule for years. However, when you see this Impreza for yourself, at least try to remember some of what you've read here, because we know we won't be able to.
