The New STI- Faster And Leather WrappedSubaru's Impreza WRX STi, already renowned as one of the fastest road cars available, is getting a little bit more comfortable. For 2007, 800 Subie's will be available in an Impreza WRX STi Limited trim package. The Limited packs the same turbocharged 2.5L engine and six-speed transmission that made the old STi so famous and fun, but adds a few refining touches. The roof and trunk spoilers have been eliminated in favor of a subtle trunk spoiler and front lip that's less eye-catching to police. The Limited will also be sold in every color you could possibly want, as long as what you want is white or gray.
New 17x8 Enkei wheels and black Brembo calipers add to the Limited's stealth factor. Inside, hardcore STi fans will cry blasphemy at the addition of dark leather replacing the famous blue STi fabric; at the addition of heated front seats; standard six-disc in-dash CD changer; and a first-ever power moonroof. Yes, it's been quite a while since the old stereo-less '04 STi days. Ready to be sold this fall to would-be STI owners who aren't such big fans of the distinctive WRC blue and gold STi scheme, the Limited model packs power and refinement into one package.
Acura To Kick Porsche's Ass
When we heard the announcement that the Acura RSX will no longer be made after 2006, we died a little inside. But when Acura punched back with the announcement that they will be contesting the 2007 American Le Mans Series in this sexy piece of car, we sprung right back. Built for the LMP2 class, this V8-powered, endurance-racing prototype is Acura's first-ever full factory racing effort. John Mendel, senior vice president of Auto Operations, was quoted as saying, "Our entry as a full factory team in the American Le Mans Series will accurately reflect Acura's position as a leader in automotive performance and technology, and provide us with an arena in which to compete against other manufacturers in endurance sports car racing." The simple translation? Porsche's own LMP2-class racer is going down. Hard.
