2007 Tokyo Auto Salon, Chiba Japan

For JDM fans and tuners alike, the annual Tokyo Auto Salon is the definition of mecca. A near-religious experience, TAS is the place to go pray to the automotive gods, all collected under the roof of the Makuhari Messe convention center. The show has a few OEM debuts and displays, but it's largely setup as the Japanese SEMA Show, with tuner parts and aftermarket innovations taking the spotlight. TAS featured such untouchable powerhouses as ASM, RE Amemiya, Mugen, Blitz, HKS, Phoenix's Power and Voltex, all of who had the latest parts and the hottest demo cars on display.

Located in Chiba, just a short trip out of central Tokyo, TAS is a three-day extravaganza that offers a sneak peek into Japan's tuning scene using the most authentic background-Japan itself. The Lancer Evolution IX, 350Z, S2000 and Impreza WRX were the most popular picks at the show, with tuned versions on hand from Ralliart, Nismo, Spoon Sports, Mugen, Zero/Sports, Syms, ARC and HKS. Navigating to TAS through the streets of Japan after an eleven hour international flight may seem like a lot, but it's well worth it. The Tokyo Auto Salon is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and if you're into cars, you owe it to yourself to visit at least one time.
