Details Autocon Los Angeles 2014:

  • Organizers move fifth annual show to Pomona Fairplex
  • All walks of life repped, from Skylines and 510 to FR-S/BRZ to Euros
  • Biggest hit was Darren Yoo's Liberty Walk 2009 Nissan GT-R

Celebrating its five-year anniversary, AutoCon kicked off the 2014 show season by taking over one of the halls of the Pomona Fairplex for its Los Angeles show. This indoor venue combined with the cool post-rain storm weather served as a welcome change to patrons of past AutoCon events, who were forced to stand outside and endure brutal triple-digit heat the past couple years.

Inside the hall was filled with various cars from all walks of life, many of which had been featured previously in either our pages or in the pages of our sister publication, Super Street. From the flared out Hakosuka Skylines and SR20-swapped Datsun 510, to the Rocket Bunny-equipped FR-S/BRZ builds and Liberty Walk bodied Euros, there was certainly something for everyone at this year's AutoCon.

Bulletproof Automotive was on site with their Bulletproof FR-S Concept One car that they had displayed proudly next to a Do-Luck-equipped R32 Skyline and their latest project, a carbon fiber Nissan GT-R. A few steps away from Bulletproof Automotive's booth was the Mackin Industries booth where Evasive Motorsports' new Voltex S2000 was on display sitting on the very first set of Volk Racing ZE40s brought into the United States. In the center of the hall a VIP-inspired custom wide bodied Toyota Prius with Aim Gain Aero rested comfortably on Avant Garde forged wheels while off to the side, a Mugened-out DC2 Integra sat proudly with its hood open, showing off its K20A2 swap topped off with a gold-plated valve cover and matching Kinsler ITBs and Mugen strut bar.

Perhaps the biggest hit at this year's AutoCon was the debut of Darren Yoo's 2009 Nissan GT-R. Built by LTMW, Darren's Nissan GT-R is dressed up in a Liberty Walk wide body kit with a one-off carbon-fiber trunk and rolling on a set of 20-inch BBS LMs. Currently Darren's Nissan GT-R is putting out almost 650whp on a E85 tune, however he plans to be making even more power soon once he puts on some bigger turbos.

AutoCon has come a long way in the past five years. Who knows what the next five years will bring for it?
