For those of you who were confused by 2000 and still don't know, 2001 is the real beginning of a new millennium. So what to do before Armageddon? The year 2000 was finished off with the final round of the Import Showoff series. Mainstream Productions and its tens of thousands of spectators dub the annual finals, "The Showoff Classics," and classic it was indeed.
What many don't realize is that although there are car shows popping up all across the nation, it takes a hustlin' entrepreneur to maintain the prestige of the finest import car show the scene has to offer.
Ken Miyoshi and Mainstream Productions once again stepped it up a notch by introducing 200 tricked out rockets for the crotch. That's right, Streetbike Showoff, a freshly added element, which put two and four together at the 2000 Showoff Classics, held at the Anaheim Convention Center Dec. 17, 2000.
If you cruised the show, then you had a chance to see the debut of Adam Saruwatari's carbon-fiber-bodied NSX. You probably also saw most of the highlights, such as the manufacturer's vehicle row featuring the Signal Auto Civic Chop Top 2, the Motorex Skylines, the Veilside RX-7, the Volk Racing Civic and show cars featured in the up and coming new motion picture from Universal Pictures, "The Fast and the Furious."
More than 12,000 lucky attendees at Showoff Classic got the chance to see all of this plus more than 400 clean-ass JDM and wild-style show cars. If you were there and didn't see this, then you were too focused on the booty-shaking entertainment that was also thrown into the mix.
And as much as we never get bored of scantily clad girls doing the same thing up on stage for hours at a time, the serious entertainment was provided by Kam, Folsom and a special guest appearance by DJ Quick. The fashion show hosted by Asiangroove let you know what new threads were to be worn at the next Showoff.
I've finally figured it out with a foolproof formula to make all the money in the world.
Put the word "Showoff" before anything and watch it turn gold. Yeah right, and watch yourself receive a letter in the mail with a mandatory court date appearance.
Showoff, all rights reserved, all biters served. I love that motto. Peep the winner's list to see the best of the best. Lates.
