Battle Of The Imports Goes Live
Battle of the Imports, presented by YoParts.com, recently hosted their inaugural New England event at Epping, New Hampshire's New England Dragway, reminding us of all the warmer places we could've been in than New England during late spring. As racers and fans alike prepped for their annual welcoming of the summer season, Mother Nature had other plans; Friday night's qualifying session was cancelled due to rain, and although the weather held for the following day...it did so at a windy 48 degrees. The event doubled for the launch of the new Battle of the Imports livesite, which streamed the event live to warm, indoor fans across the globe. But the best part? BOTI coupled the feed with chat capability, so viewers could talk trash as it went down. It's like having a few thousand people over in your living room as you are watching the show. East Coast Drift Drag Rages On
This just in: East Coast racing is alive and well! Taking over the sport compact reigns en lieu of the NHRA, NOPI traveled to Englishtown's infamous Raceway Park for their Spring Nationals-a collaborative effort between the industry's fastest drag racers, most talented up-and-coming drifters, and of course, all the models, vendors, music, and events that make up the best of any NOPI experience. Import accomplishments include Jeremy Lookofsky (full interview in July '08 2NR) claiming the top All Motor spot with his '06 Civic, while Kenny Tran took Top Hot Rod spot with his tC, Brent Rau smoked the competition with his Modified '99 Eclipse, and Carlos Montano decimated all with his all-new 6-second '07 350Z. Notables include Ben Frieman, who raced better in his 10-second street-driven '94 Civic than anyone else in the Power Street Class, and-our personal favorite new drag car for '08 - the Mazworx/PRL Racing S15 Silvia Modified Class killer; full tube-frame, lookin for 6s, and still RHD! www.nopi.com
