Wek' Fest 2009 - 411

Text By Luke Munnell, Photography by Luke Munnell

Walk through the doors of a high-priced venue on your way to an HIN or Import Showoff, and you know you're in for a good time. Grassroots, enthusiast-organized parking lot meets, on the other hand, are unpredictable--turnout can be low, legality sketchy, and if you're not part of the crowd that threw the event, there's usually a chance you're not entirely welcome. Right?

Not, as we recently discovered, if you're in San Francisco and kick it with the Wek' Sos boys--the same crew responsible for filling the lower level of Frisco's Japantown garage with more than 440 of the absolute cleanest imports we've seen in any one place yet, and 8,000 of the most dedicated enthusiasts to ever wait in near-freezing rain for entrance to local a car show.

Vendors, models, tunes, and rides a la WeaksauceParts.com, SpeedElement.com, RedzonePerformance.com, and TeamHybrid.com were among the heaviest hitters in attendance, setting a new standard for cleanliness and modification.
