Mitsubishi Owners Day
Back for the fifth year, Mitsubishi Motors recently invited any and every Mitsubishi enthusiasts to their Cypress, CA headquarters to take part in their annual M.O.D. auto fest. Dozens of Mitsu cars of every model and generation could be found, from DSM Starions, Eclipses and 3000GTs, to nearly every generation of EVO and just about everything in between-our personal favorites include JLB Motorsports' EVO IX, DC Sports' twin EVO Xs, High Intenzity's JGTC-inspired 3000GT that gets sicker with every show, and Jim Russel's Formula car. And let's not forget the vendors; KW Suspension, K&N, HKS, DC Sports, Mackin Industries, 5Zigen, Cosworth and AEM were just some of those in attendance, offering sponsorships, discounts, advice, demos, even some free schwag to lucky raffle winners. Our boys at AMS trekked down from Chicago to show off their '09 race machines, and set a new world record on Road Race Engineering's mobile Dynapack dynos, with 1,180 AWHP @ 47 pounds of boost with their EVO IX dragger, which tore out a chunk of pavement in the process-with its exhaust gasses alone! Wired On Honda
In Honda news, newcomers Wiredonhonda.com took a recent weekend to prove their mettle by throwing yet another Honda/Acura meet large enough to catch our attention (which, in SoCal, means it has to be pretty big). All of the Southland's prominent Honda teams and show-goers were among those in attendance, including a pair of future 2NR-exclusive feature rides from FAST Autoworks, an orange single-cam slammer we also have our eye on, TopDown's matching DC2 and S2K track killers, and even the random ARC-laden Element and 800whp sleeper Integra. The event even boasted its own "vendor alley", where the likes of Tokico, NRH Performance, Torco and Bisimoto (whose ridiculously clean and lightweight incolnel headers will be the new hotness-mark our words) could be found giving away the latest schwag via the official W.O.H. raffle. The online resource/parts peddlers' meet also doubled as an unofficial launch party for the newly opened Super Autotoyz-think Super Autobacs, only better, and under new management. Spreen Honda
In other Honda news, Loma Linda, CA's Spreen Honda celebrated its embracement of the import automotive aftermarket by inviting the 2NR crew to the debut of its regular Honda/Acura meet, held the first Saturday of each month at the dealership's grounds. Vendors (and warranted installers) of the latest H-badged schwag, the Spreen meet brought out the regular SoCal heavyweights, as well as some up-and-coming new project builds. Hyper Fest
Despite how far West Coast trends continue to push the next cool thing in import tuning, the East Coast continues to fly in the face of it, reasserting themselves as authorities of how badass the import scene can be made through their own unique, off-beat efforts. Enter HyperFest '09, the latest addition to Summit Point Motorsports Park's annual celebration of all things import-related, no matter how gloriously "wrong" they may seem. Hosting Falken Tire's U.S. Drift nationals, NASA Pro Racing's Honda Challenge and Teen Mazda Challenge, and track and rally instructional driving courses undoubtedly seems like legitimate business. But without the Rollover Contest (self-explanatory), Rice-Rice Challenge (most riced-out car wins), Daredevil Throwdown (featuring blindfolded golf cart races, Jalapeño-eating contests, and tricycle racing), Daisy Duke Contest, and-mandatory for any West Virginia event-fireworks, you just wouldn't have a proper HyperFest event. Almost a thousand pictures of the carnage available at importtuner.com www.hyper-fest.com

We hate to say it, but summer's just about over. And you know what that means: Back to . . . the track! The fall race season is nearly upon us, and to celebrate, 2NR is looking for contestants for this year's STI vs. EVO Challenge, presented by Continental Tires. Think your EVO has what it takes to defend the two-year-strong title as Number 1? Is your STI poised to help steal the crown? Well, Continental Tire wants to give you a free set of ContiSportContact 3 rubber and entrance into this year's event to prove it. Send driver/vehicle proposals, attention "Mr. Super Lap Battle", to:Elliott.moran@sorc.com

The record-setting time-attack pass was set by Nob Taniguchi and the HKS CT230R '03 EVO VIII, at the Super Lap Battle Finals at Buttonwillow Raceway in 2007.
