One of the reasons we like Japanese classic cars so much is unfortunately also one of the reasons they stay under the radar so well: their owners and builders are some of the most laid-back, friendly, and self-contented individuals around. These guys do what they do because they love it, not because of the limelight-a dedication that shows in some of the cleanest, well-built imports in existence. F20C-swapped AE86s, 2JZ-swapped Carinas, carbureted FJ20-swapped Bluebirds, and SR20s stuffed into nearly every vintage J-ride imaginable could be seen next to touge-prepped Cressidas and M35s, drag-prepped R100s and FB RX-7s, and projects in the works-most of them slammed, carbed/ITBd or boosted, and cleaner than the day they left the factory. Shouts go out to those who came from as far away as Washington state and the East Coast.
