Import Faceoff Integra

Import Faceoff revisited the Texas Motorplex of Ennis (Dallas area), TX, for the fifth year in a row, to bigger crowds and more racer participation than ever before. Competition was even more impressive. FWD Sportsman classes were divided into two: one traditional class and another "top flight" class called Gambler FWD, in which racers ponied up a $400 entrance fee to vie—against Tony Palo, Aaron Lopez, and the like—for a $4,000 payout. In the end it was Tony and Aaron who battled at the line, Tony cashing in with an 8.577 @ 183.84 run in his 1,200hp, red DC2 to Aaron’s 9.491 @ 161.38 from his unsuspectingly fast "Stoopidfast" black EK.

All Motor Pro saw an Alex Pagin vs. Jason Lumpkin final, for the fourth time in a row, with Alex coming through FTW with an 11.011 @ 123.80 in his K-series red hatch to Jason’s B20-powered green CRX and an 11.307 @ 108.98. Forced Induction Pro competition proved every bit as competitive when third-string qualifier Ryan Sprehe ran an 8.865-second Final-round pass to upset 8.6-second competitor Ross Baird (both in Supras), who deep staged and redlit under pressure. In contrast, Outlaw class racing became a double bust when Kenny Tran’s normally low-7-second tC was set to battle the even faster FD RX-7 of Puerto Rico’s Jose "El Loco Policia" Zeda in the Finals, when both cars broke beyond repair prior to competition.

In real police news, one inconsiderate competitor nearly left the race in cuffs for his high-speed antics on the public two-lane back road leading to the track—not smart. "We had a fan die on his way back from the Louisiana event this past year," said IFO owner Cliff Wallace. "He had all day to race at the track for a few bucks, but decided to race on the street instead and ended up paying the ultimate price."
