Married couple Doug and Miriam Macmillan of Hondata recently came out to the Bonneville Salt Flats and once again broke records with their Hondas. For the fourth time Miriam took her 1.5L turbocharged ’90 CRX to a new record of 220.258 mph. Although, she actually went a top speed of 234.6 mph, the results are calculated from an average speed over two runs. Doug’s twin-charged 700hp Acura RSX driven by codriver Daniel Butler broke the previous record by 12 mph. In an amazing finish the car ran 232.546 mph. But due to an engine fire from a thrown rod, the car was out of commission for a backup run. “The RSX with its 100 shot of nitrous was pulling very, very strongly. With better tires and taller gearing we’ll be shooting for more than 240 mph in the RSX next year. I think the CRX has the most untapped potential though. Our goal for the CRX is to hit 250 mph,” Doug says. www.hondata.com Enjoyed this Post? Subscribe to our RSS Feed, or use your favorite social media to recommend us to friends and colleagues!
