2NR: Tell the truth-how many dyno runs did you make to fine tune the Spoon cam sprockets and Vortech fuel pressure regulator? AD: I'll never tell. 2NR: Dude, that was kinda scary. You sounded just like that girl on that Michael Douglas movie. AD: You should hear me sing. 2NR: I have-and I'll never be able to listen to another Radiohead song again. Back to your car; what other tuning secrets are you willing to reveal about it, since it looks relatively mild in the pictures. AD: Since I have to drive so damn far to get to work, there's a big possibility that I might get pulled over by the po-lease, so I tried to keep my car smooth and on the D.L. at the same time. The factory intake pipe was modified-and I won't say how-and all the intake air is filtered through a Spoon drop-in. A super-stealth RC throttle body takes the air in and gives it to the "A-Dogg Special" hand-ported intake manifold. The Spoon spark plug wires are low-key; same thing goes for the Mugen thermostat and Spoon radiator cap. All in the name of secret power.
2NR: To the untrained eye, it would look like you're running a stock header and stock exhaust, too. What do you have to say about that? AD: Stealth mode, yo! 2NR: Well, can you say anything else besides "stealth mode"? AD: Underneath the factory heatshield is a plain, old, run-of-the-mill DC Sports header, because DC is the shit. The catalytic converter-wait, are you going to print this part? 2NR: I'm going to print all of it. AD: The catalytic converter is an Aries Special "super-hi flow." And when you write super-hi flow, make sure you write that I did that "finger quotation" thing in the air. Nah mean? 2NR: Right. So what about that stock exhaust? AD: Actually, it's a GReddy SP, because GReddy is the shiznit. Can I give a shout-out to my homie Kenji at GReddy? 2NR: No. Tell me more about the exhaust. AD: Damn, dude, why you hatin' on my steez? 2NR: OK, shout out to Kenji and then tell us about the exhaust. AD: Wassup, K-Dogg! (silence) Aight, should I start now? 2NR: Yeah. AD: See, it's GReddy's SP muffler, but I modified it for the D.L. duty. I straight painted it high-temp, low-gloss black and modified the tip to fit the factory screw-and-stamped-metal deal back on. My shit is tight and hidin' in plain sight, yo. On the rizzeal.
2NR: You know, if you're going to talk like the Cha-ching dude from "Can't Hardly Wait" you should at least try to do it consistently. AD: Aw, now you're really hatin'. I'm outta here. 2NR: But do you think Tes can handle the car when it has an ACT Xtreme pressure plate, Energy Suspension motor mounts, TEIN HA coilovers and pillowball mounts, and a Spoon front tower bar? AD: She can handle it cuz she's the shizzle for nizzle, too. And she can use the Powerstops and Hawk Plus brake pads to keep it in stealth mode, if she needs to. 2NR: But what if, in your words, some fool rolls up and thinks you're slipping, and Tes has to regulate-won't you be worried about your wheels getting dented or something? AD: Naw, fool. I'm rollin' Mugen MF-8s; they be 16s and shizzee so I can get mo' rubber and less flubber with the tires, yo! Damn!
2NR: I have no idea how to transcribe that. Do you want to mention your in-car entertainment? AD: Naw, I don't want fools to be searching for my car and bustin' a jack move, nah mean? 2NR: You don't want them to know about your full Eclipse multimedia system, CD changer, PS2, 700 watts of power.... AD: That's it, yo. I'm outta here. 2NR: We didn't even mention the Mugen pedals, steering wheel, and shift knob. Or the super short C's shifter, or your dual Recaro SRDs with Takata harnesses. How am I going to fit that in the story? AD: I'm not trying to hear you right now. I'm just gonna make like a banana and split. 2NR: You mean, make like lightning and bolt? AD: Nah, make like Keanu and Reeves. Peace out, yo!
