New Suburu for You
Subaru doesn't go for super-swoopy styling, but that doesn't mean it's completely immune from the urge to redecorate. For the 2003 Imprezas now on sale in Europe, it's done some rhinoplasty and tweaked the structure. Most notable among the changes are new, larger headlights that throw bigger wads of lumens than ever before.
Further molding on the front air dam and a new rear spoiler reportedly take about half the aerodynamic lift off both the front and rear of the STi-tuned WRX, and skirting around the side sills promotes stability at high speed. The fresh bumpers and grille also push more air toward the brakes, and the hood scoop's size and effectiveness have both increased to feed the intercooler.
The new metal and plastic covers a nose that has been structurally revised for increased stiffness. Other changes are minimal, including a slightly smaller diameter MOMO steering wheel on the STi, new metallic-looking trim in a dash and revisions to the door panels and seat materials. When are all these changes going to show up on U.S.-bound WRXs? Soon.
