Chiusano also turned to Basch for his expertise when it came to upgrading the brakes and suspension. Basch installed a set of Tein racing coilovers all around to complement the NSX's already-razor-sharp cornering performance. When it came to the brakes, Basch pulled out all of the stops with a set of AP Racing calipers and big discs, along with Goodrich stainless-steel lines and Motul RBF 600 fluid.
Next, with a total disregard for sanity, Chiusano decided a little extra performance would be a smart thing to have, so a complete NOS nitrous injection system was installed by John Thomson at ADS in Chandler. Thomson installed a bottle heater, remote bottle opener and an electronic switch that allows the horn button to double as the NOS activation switch. A pressure gauge was installed in the center console, and all of the electronics are carefully hidden behind the ashtray door.
The custom black-and-yellow interior treatment was carried out by the crew at The Top Shop in Phoenix, and includes the custom-dyed seat inserts, carpets, door panels and dash. Carbon-fiber accents were also added for a little extra flair. An XLFAB carbon-fiber gauge pod graces the door pillar and is fitted with Autometer Phantom gauges. Finally, an aluminum dash kit was installed.
Auto Express in Scottsdale was recruited next to supply and install the ICE. It started by installing an Alpine head unit and navigation system along with an Alpine monitor screen. A Panasonic DVD player helps pass the time on those long road trips and a HKS CAMP data logging system was installed to provide feedback for tuning purposes.
With the performance potential Chiusano's NSX is now turning, it would be foolish not to have some protection from our friends at the Highway Patrol. He takes no chances, and has installed a Valentine 1 laser and radar detection system along with a Black Widow laser and radar scrambler, and just for good measure, an anti-laser plate cover that Chiusano sells to anyone who is interested.
Unfortunately, a car as desirable as this one is always a target for thieves, so Chiusano built in a little extra protection to ensure it stays were it belongs. A Road Vehicle tracking system allows the whereabouts of the NSX to be monitored from a PC, even giving readouts on the vehicle's current speed. This is backed up by a Lo-Jack Police tracking system and a bad-to-the-bone Viper alarm system.
As the finishing touch, a full complement of neon lights and strobes were supplied and installed by Aaron Ranker at SVA Motorsports in Mesa, Ariz.
Even with the amount of work that's already gone into it, Chiusano is planning further modifications to this bad-ass NSX, but as it now sits, it's probably one of the most potent combinations on the scene. His list of friends to thank is long, but it's definitely topped by his fiancee Sherri Kroll. "Sherri puts up with all of the late nights in the shop and traveling I've done to get the car to this stage," he said. "Her help in the design and enthusiastic passion for my particular style of artwork has been limitless. I could never have done it without her.
