Yamada: When I see Ueo drift at events I really believe he is the only one that seems to pitch the car at such an angle. He seems to have no control of the car but somehow he manages to bring the car back and to me that's an amazing thing. Watching him drift is something of a godsend and I don't think anyone has the ability to do the things he can do in the drifting community.
2NR: Who do you think is the best drifter in Japan?
Ueo: I believe I am. If I didn't have confidence in myself then I wouldn't be in competitive drifting. It takes confidence and motivation to become the very best. Ask the top drifters in Japan whom they think are the best and I can guarantee they will say the same thing.
Yamada: Ah... you know I'm not kissing ass but I really do believe Ueo is the top drifter in Japan after watching him perform on the track at the past D1 event. Ueo claimed the series championship two years ago in 2002 after a close match against Taniguchi Nobuteru (N.O.B) in his HKS-sponsored S15.
2NR: Okay I've asked all drifters from Japan this same question and have yet to find out the true answer: So tell me about the Cam girls or umbrella girls who are popular with the Japanese race community. Since both of you have become a race superstar in Japan in the drift scene, and Tarzan in the race scene, is it easy to pick up on these girls and bring them home?
Ueo: (Laughing) Well it might be easy to pick up on them but I have a girlfriend so I don't really pay much attention to them. None of the girls like me much anyway so if I loose my girlfriend then I wont have a chance with another girl.
2NR: Ueo, you're so whipped! What about you Tarzan?
Yamada: (Rubbing his hands together) Oh, as many girls as I can get! The Cam girls are very pretty and I love talking to them but usually they will approach me. I love women! I LOOOVE women! I try to pick up on them as much as possible.
2NR: So what are you trying to say Tarzan? You claiming PIMP status?
Ueo: No he never gets the girls. They always run away from him because he's a Sukebe [pervert].
Yamada: What are you talking about? I'm such a charmer, all the women love me! I get girls all the time.
2NR: What were your thoughts on the D1 event this past August at Irwindale Speedway in California?
Ueo: It had to be one of the most memorable events I have ever competed in. The fans and overwhelming crowds got all of us drivers hyped up and made us want to put our "A" game on. We wanted to exhibit the best driving skills possible.
Yamada: The crowds were amazing! They all stood up on their feet and cheered from start to finish. Even when the U.S. drifters came out on the track the crowds cheered them on. I was so impressed and excited when the event took place, it made me want to drift. So, next year I am thinking about running an exhibition called the "Team Tarzan," where I take the top U.S. drivers to Japan and fight against the Japanese drivers to see who's on top. Kind of like a good vs. bad type match up where the crowds can "cheer" and "boo" for the drivers.
