The Next Big Thing - Four One One
Welcome To Thunderdome: Two Car Shows Enter, One Gets Bitch-Slapped.
If you're like us, you spend the end of the year anticipating the holidays and getting cool gifts like fly lights, detachable-face DVD/MP3 players and supercharger kits. Was Santa good to you? He was to us, but since we're Jewish, we think he might have had a little mixup with egg nog and Mad Dog.
Along with the holidays, we also get to look forward to going to the best car shows the country has to offer, and this year's Detroit auto show was about the best ever. First we waded through the Los Angeles show, though, and as you can guess for a show staged between Christmas and New Year's, the new model intros were about as thin as a supermodel sandwich, hold the mayo. But the bounty in the Motor City more than made up for it: Along with the new Mustang and new Corvette (they're American muscle cars, in case you don't care), a ton of new imports showed up to lay claim to the title of next big thing.
In all Detroit gave us more than 60 new cars and trucks to gawk at. Here's the best of what we've seen-and what we think will be headed to a street race near you.
