Nissan S15 Silvia - Demon Slider

Step Four: Don't Blow Up
Here's a challenge for you readers: take an SR20DET motor, turn the boost up to 18.85 psi, run it through a drift day, and say that it lasted. Drifting entails hard acceleration in tuned motors, all while bouncing off the rev-limiter with limited airflow. It's hell on an engine. Thus, HKS fit as many coolers as possible on the car: power steering, oil, and a large R-Type intercooler. Keeping the driver informed of the car's mood is a whole collection of gauges and meters. From the HKS Chrono DB meters family is boost, water temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure, and exhaust gas temperature. Standard meters include the HKS transmission oil temperature meter, HKS A/F knock sensor, Stack tachometer, and circuit attack counter. Keeping the power down is an HKS GD Pro clutch and flywheel spinning through to a Nismo GT limited slip differential. The transmission is another piece untouchable by us mere mortals: a full clutch-less shifting sequential HKS transmission.

With a second place finish at the D1GP round at Irwindale, Calif., last February, the HKS S15 Silvia is ready to turn up the pressure for the D1 title. Don't assume that a loss on U.S. soil means that HKS has gone soft. The equally impressive and beautiful HKS carbon-fiber Evolution TRB-02 driven by Tanaguchi smashed the Tsukuba track record with a 54.739 second lap time. Who previously held the track record? HKS, of course. Nothing says domination like having to compete with oneself for the crown.
