Since the rest of the car was tuned for track-bred power, the stock RSX suspension needed a change. A HKS Hipermax II coil-over kit replaced the soft factory suspension. The Hipermax II system uses 30-position 2-way adjustable dampers with carefully chosen springs to firm up handling. Bolted to the chassis frame is a set of Mugen tower braces, a Carbing rear lower arm bar and a J's Racing c-pillar bar.
With the frame and spring rates set up, Chang added 4-piston calipers and 13-inch cross-drilled and slotted rotors by Rotora. Bigger brakes made bigger wheels a necessity. Chang used bronze Work Emotion CR-Kai wheels all around, sized 18x7.5 inches. Depending on the situation, the RSX is fitted with Yokohama Advan A048 tires at the track, and Yokohama Parada Spec-2 tires on the street, both sized 225/40R-18.
Although the RSX has a stripped interior, Chang wanted the interior clean and capable. From the comfort of Bride Zeta II racing buckets and Takata harnesses, the driver steers with a Mugen N1 suede steering wheel connected to a Sparco quick release and Mugen steering boss. Hands and feet control the vitals of the RSX through Mugen pedals and a HKS D1 shift knob on top of a JDM DC5R shifter boot. Adding to the JDM feel is a DC5R gauge cluster and coin pocket. The only concession toward entertainment is a DVD/AM/FM/TV/MP3-capable Rockford Fosgate RAVDVD2 unit with a 7-inch LCD screen and 5.1 surround sound.
Chang thanks God; his parents; Jason, Brandon and Mike at Jtuned; the Zhomos at SHHS; all the guys at Slipstream Global; Danny; Teddy; Eddie; Mike K.; Ashley; Daniel; Min Woo; Chicken; Helen; Sally; Terry; and Team Fred. Chang developed the Midas Touch with their help. Just what he will to gold next is the big question.
