With this much power on tap, it's probable that one of three things will happen: One, you'll go flying off the first cliff-side curve you reach as your brakes fail in a hurricane of sparks; two, tires will become your number one expense, right ahead of food and rent, or three, you'll have so much fun you'll install a toilet and hotplate in it, so you won't ever have to leave.
Yeh hasn't reached the levels of madness reserved for glorious option three, but he made careful modifications to try and avoid the first two. The RX-7 came from the factory stock with a superb four-piston caliper braking system; Yeh added Powerslot rotors, Project Titan HC brake pads and Project brake lines. Covering the brakes is a set of shoes courtesy of RE Amemiya 18x8.5-inch AW-7 wheels mounted by Signal Auto. The already capable factory suspension was removed in favor of Tanabe Sustec Pro Coil-overs fine-tuned with Tanabe sway bars. In the rear end casing now rests a Kaaz limited-slip differential and a 4.3:1 ratio final drive gear.
To newcomers, the most striking feature about Yeh's RX-7 is it doesn't look like a RX-7 anymore. Originally, it ran just a front spoiler, wing and side skirts, but Yeh's RX-7 underwent a complete transformation. Rotary Xecret 7 and Reflections Auto Body carefully installed, modified and molded a ultra-expensive and rare RE Amemiya AC037 kit to the Mazda which received a color-shifting, light-dazzling, eye-scorching paint job in PPG Harlequin. The AD Hood 9, reshaped sleek headlight kit, and rear fender trim were all sourced from RE Amemiya to complete the change from RX-7 to bug-eyed cruiser. Accenting the body is a set of Knight Sports side mirrors and a shaved exterior. Inside the car rests a pair of blue Bride Pros bucket seats, Sparco safety equipment, and a complete audio system by Creative Car Audio.
Since Yeh is retiring his RX-7, he has moved on to the latest and greatest from Mazda. The Renesis engine and the RX-8 promise to produce more advanced technology and comfort, but they don't have more than 500 whp on tap. Will we see this 7 again, or has it finally ridden off into the sunset?
