Mitsubishi Lancer Evo - Apparently Evil

To sport such an aggressive body kit, you must wonder what lies under the hood. With engine modifications alone spanning two pages, you should think twice before challenging this beast. SP Engineering in the City of Industry, Calif., upgraded the EVO with an HKS GT3037S SPEC full turbo upgrade and HKS Super Mega Flow custom intake system. The boost feeds into an HKS intercooler (topped off with an Nitrous Express N-tercooler system). The intake charge is routed into a set of HKS camshafts with a 272-degree intake and exhaust matched to a set of HKS adjustable cam gears while excess boost is released into the atmosphere though a HKS SSQV blow-off valve kit. As added insurance, HKS was once again on call to provide its 1.2mm metal head gasket for high boosts. Spent exhaust exits though a 3-inch HKS downpipe. Supplying fuel to the engine is a set of HKS 700cc injectors, force-fed though a set of dual Walboro fuel pumps. Providing additional spark is an HKS twin-power DLI II ignition system. Fuel and timing is controlled by an HKS F-CON V Pro unit. Safeguarding against clutch failure is an ACT Xtreme pressure plate and six-pad race disc. Linear oil temperature is maintained with a Setrab oil cooler kit. The radiator was upgraded to a PWR custom "Rhys Millen-spec" radiator with a 57mm core and an APR Performance carbon-fiber radiator cooling plate. Dress up components include a dry carbon-fiber engine cover and timing chain cover by Carbign Craft.

With the APR Performance Evil-R widebody aerodynamic kit, you'll be tickled pink to know the overall body stance was increased by 3.5 inches (90mm). Complementing the newfound width is a set of custom Racing Hart 18x10.5-inch forged two-piece CP-035R lightweight wheels (15.21 pounds each) wrapped in 275/35-18 Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Tires. Destined as a multi-purpose track vehicle, the EVO is equipped with Project Mu SCR-PRO two-piece rotors up front while all four corners sport a set of Project Mu Type HC-Titan KAI brake pads. Suspension components include TEIN Flex dampers and an EDFC control module. Handling was improved via a Hotchkis Tuning rear sway bar. An APR Performance front upper strut flex control bar and front lower chassis flex control bar help increase stability through the turns.

Opening the diver's-side door reveals the ultra-clean interior modifications. The center dash was replaced with Auto Meter gauges, Ignited switches and trick carbon-fiber paneling. Electronics are aided though an HKS EVC PSI and HKS Type-1 turbo timer. Safety features include an Autopower bolt-in six-point roll cage. The original bucket seats were discarded in favor of twin Recaro Pole Position racing seats in a red and black color scheme. Finishing touches include a Momo Trek steering wheel, B&M short shifter and Momo hand brake.
