Ever the enthusiast, he seemed to be living a double life: one as a member of Florida's finest and one as racing enthusiast. He went to car meets and some less-than-legal races. Although he never participated, he did hang out and enjoy the scene. What Weiner found most interesting, was he managed to keep his professional identity intact while hanging out with the car guys.
Then, in 2003, everything came to a screeching halt, and Weiner had to put his project on hold to join his reserve unit for active duty in Iraq. He didn't want to lose any precious time, so he entrusted his pride and joy to a performance shop (that we'll leave nameless) to give his i-VTEC powerplant some extra spirit while he was away. As bad luck would have it, the shop took his money and never finished his car. After returning from a six-month stint in Iraq, the engine bay was in total disarray, far from competitive and in dire need of help. Island Street Performance came through in a pinch, blessing the RSX with a custom turbo system, complete with DEI heat wrap and heat shield, a custom intercooler and Vortech blow-off valve. A set of 440cc injectors keep his afterburners lit and DEI fuel lines ensure the engine doesn't get thirsty. To regulate and orchestrate Weiner's precision-crafted machine, Hondata came through with a K-Pro ECU. To make the intercooler even more efficient, a DEI CryO2 intercooler spray bar system and two nitrous bottles were added to the mix. Strapped to the dyno, this RSX spun the rollers to 325 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque. Not bad for a stock engine. GReddy gauges keep Weiner informed about what's going on under the hood. With a lot of hard work, his car was back in competitive shape and prepped barely in time for the IASCA Spring Break Nationals in 2004. But all that hard work paid off, as he managed to start the year with a first-place win.
During the 2004 season this public servant's ride got lots of recognition, and he gained quite a few sponsors as he racked up first- and second-place trophies from the numerous events he attended. Because Weiner picked up sponsorship from Valvoline, Raze Wheels and Fusion Tires, he was soon rolling on 18s. This left him little choice but to head to Extreme Car Audio and fill in his wheels with AEM's big brake kit and drop his ride with Tein's SS coil-overs and EDFC. He caught the eye of Carbon Creations, and the guys there really made his RSX into a fighter. Equipped with Carbon Creations Type M body kit, hood, front quarter panels and Type R spoiler, Weiner was ready to apply a few coats of PPG firepepper red paint to his one-off ride.
Despite a stellar exterior, Weiner felt he was still a little short of the glory. He added some clear halo headlights, HID Express 10,000K HID bulbs and ballasts, Varad underbody LEDs and vertical door hinges from Vertical Doors Inc.
Soon after creating this warrior, Weiner left the police department to work for the federal government in network security, serving our country yet again. His car has been an ongoing project from day one, and he's got even bigger plans in the works. With modifications still on the horizon, 10 shows on his schedule and a brand-new sponsorship from Advanced Auto Parts, Weiner has plans to raffle off his baby sometime in the next year. Keep an eye out, she could be yours!
