2000 Honda S2000 - Madness Rules The Street

440 Rear-Wheel Horsepower On Pump Gas

The fuel system remains one of the top priorities with any high horsepower vehicle, skimp on the fuel and kiss your engine bye-bye. XS Engineering kept things sweet and simple by upgrading the factory in-tank fuel pump with a Walberg 255lph replacement. Nippon Denso 700cc injectors are put on check through an AEM pressure regulator. An XS Engineering Power Pack Ignition Booster maintains proper voltage as the rpms climb well past 8000rpm. Adding a little show quality flavor in the mix, Yen polished out the valve cover and turbine snail while replacing the factory rubber hoses with a pocket denting array of steel braided lines. The fruits of hard labor were well rewarded for both Yen and the XS Engineering crew as the S2K was strapped to the rollers and delivered an eye whopping 438.5 rear wheel hp and 326.6 ft-lb of torque on 91-octane pump gas. This was obtained at a mere 1.2 kg of boost. Imagine a 2600 lbs. car on 500hp-now that's mind-blowing!

Those who play the game of high horsepower know too well what consequences they face when attempting to transfer those ponies to the tarmac. A quick call to ACT put Yen's mind to ease as they offered a perfect pressure plate and disk combination to quell the S2K's horsepower hungry engine. Handling the four-corner footwork on the vehicle is a full set of JIC Magic coilovers matched to a set of Spoon Sports anti-swaybars. Setting off the exterior's visual prowess are 18x8-inch SSR 3-piece Professors wrapped in 225/40R18 Nitto NT555 tires up front and 18x9.5 rolling on 255/35R18 in the rear.

For Yen, it wasn't about excessive body graphics or flashy non-functional do-dads and knickknacks. He was in the market to find a serious body kit that would not only be an art form but possessed function as well. The decision was made to install a C-West front bumper, side skirts, and C-West diffuser. The professionals at A1 Autobody of Huntington Beach, Calif. installed and painted the kit in less than three weeks time.

Slated as a daily driven rocketship, the S2K spent a good portion of its time at XS Engineering as they installed a pair of Sparco bucket seats and a wide array of electronics. A plethora of Blitz meters, including the EGT meter, boost gauge, water temp and oil pressure, fill the cockpit from end to end. To keep the local commutes though the Orange County area more bearable, an Alpine CDA 9833 head unit plays host to a Phoenix Gold six-channel amplifier, as it powers a set of MB Quarts component speakers and Audio Bahn 10-inch subwoofer.

So what do Yen and the XS Engineering crew have planned for this daily driven beast? The crew at XS recently added a little spice in the mix by pumping the S2K with some C16 race fuel and delivered 528.3 rear-wheel hp and 426.3 ft-lb of torque at 1.75 kg . As for Yen, he states, "Overall, I love driving this car on the open highway but I have yet to tach out the speedometer. But hopefully I will someday."
