The inside of this Integra is as equally daunting as the outside. Junko essentially renovated the interior and converted everything to reproduce the insides of its J-spec counterpart. The black seats accentuated by the red inlays are the first indicators of the special care and preparation that Junko used to make her Integra as distinctive as possible. The seats are made by Recaro and are specially decorated with the Top Fuel SPL insignia. The second most impressive product inside the cabin is the JDM Integra Type R steering wheel, made of hard leather and highlighted by the strong red "H" in the center. Since this steering wheel would look out of place inside a regular USDM Integra, Junko added the door panels, console, shift knob, and basically the whole interior of a JDM Integra Type R. Aside from the left-hand-drive configuration, the inside is as close as Junko will get to sitting inside an actual Japanese DC2.
Though the Top Fuel Integra was better known as a monster on the winding tracks of Japan, Junko felt she had to stay true to form and fix her Integra strictly for quarter-mile racing. "Even though drifting and track racing is getting more popular," explains Junko, "I want my car to be a drag car because that's how I got into the scene in the first place, and the strip is one of the reasons why I fell in love with this industry." As a result, she installed a set of ultra-expensive Top Fuel Drag Pro coilovers with stiff springs, 16 kg in the front and 9 kg in the back. The coilovers also feature 52mm pistons and work together with a set of JDM Integra Type R front and rear sway bars to make the suspension adjustable and compatible with the quarter-mile strip.
Obviously, all the adjustments made to the suspension can only do so much in reducing the times. The real core of succeeding in drag racing, especially on front-wheel-drive formats, is the engine. Junko has always been known, among her circle of friends, as wanting to be the fastest on the street and the strip. She couldn't tune her 2.0L engine alone, so she asked her friend Elton Lo to help refine the motor. Elton is known for building the some of the fastest cars in Southern California, breaking record times at both Time Attack events and salt-flat races. He and Junko modified every piece of the powerplant, from head to block, with mostly Blitz products. But like everything else about the car, the engine also features parts from a JDM Integra Type R, from the intake manifold to the sexy red valve cover. Bored to 84mm, the LS/V-TEC motor runs on a 10:1 compression ratio and is electronically tuned with an APEX'I Power FC. But it's the Blitz K3T 3070 turbocharger that takes the spotlight under the hood. It's paired up with 534cc Blitz fuel injectors to provide sufficient fuel to the chambers, and a Blitz Type C-42 wastegate regulates boost pressure off of the exhaust side. All of this propelled the Integra down the Pomona drag strip at a blistering 11.64 seconds at a fast 115 mph, a feat that Junko only dreamed of since she was a kid.
Though she's not completely done with the car, wanting to gain more power and go faster, Junko knows that she has finally made a mark in the tuning scene that she loves so much. From being a teenager gawking at cars flying by at races to becoming an adult who's doing the fly by as others watch, Junko has fully realized her dreams.
