Red Devil - APR 2003 Infiniti G35

The front-mount intercooler is a GReddy unit, with a fitting on the custom SP Engineering piping for a HKS blow-off valve. Twin turbocharger intakes can barely been seen on each side of the carbon-fiber Carbign Craft engine cover, with HKS Super Mega Flow air filters fit on to their ends. A Walbro high-flow fuel pump feeds larger-than-stock 440cc/min fuel injectors, with a stronger spark handled by a HKS Twin Power DLI II ignition amplifier. HKS' venerable F-Con V Pro standalone engine management system is used by APR, tuned by SP Engineering to put down 400 wheel hp and 364 lb-ft of torque at a modest 8lbs of boost. Off-the-shelf GReddy twin-turbo G35's and 350Z's normally put down about 350 wheel hp at SP Engineering.

The stock clutch was swapped out at this power point, exchanged in favor for an ACT clutch and flywheel kit. The stock six-speed transmission remains untouched, aside from a B&M short shifter, and is often mistaken for an automatic slushbox due to the shape of the Razo shift knob. APR's G35 is factory equipped with sledgehammer Brembo brakes, an option that was removed from the 2005 model year on. APR also fit two-piece front and one-piece rear Project Mu brake rotors, with a possible future upgrade to a Project Mu front big brake kit.

As opposed to their previous offerings, APR chose to build the G35 as a pimped-out street car, versus an all-out race car like their past Mitsubishi and Subaru projects. For stance, this Infiniti uses Hotchkis swaybars paired with softly tuned TEIN Comfort Sport coilovers. This coupe was driven to our studio for its photoshoot and Chow reported that its ride quality was dead on matched to its intended purpose. Dropped on to a set of custom 20-inch Maya MRS wheels with a black face and red lip, APR's G35 swallows up 285/25/20 front and the previously mentioned 325/25/20 rear Pirelli PZero Nero tires. The rear rims feature about 5 inches of glossy black wheel lip and Chow is already sourcing out a new set of Maya wheels, with a direct Lamborghini fitment. Those wheels will feature at least 6 inches of blingin' lip.

The interior is one area of this Infiniti that didn't need as much work as some other cars. APR uses a set of front recline-able Speed seats by Recaro, with Razo pedals and a Nardi steering wheel mounted on a Works Bell quick release rounding out the driver's interface. The dashboard also features custom mounting by Chow for in-car electronics, such as the TEIN EDFC and HKS EVC boost controller. The fiberglass mounting pod for the Autometer Nexus boost and oil temperature gauges is custom molded, fit right on top of the stock dash trim.

Because the stock stereo system was deemed inadequate, Pioneer Electronics was called in for help. A Pioneer AVH-P6800DVD double-DIN head unit is sitting ready to be installed, which features a six-disc in-dash DVD changer, 7-inch touch screen LCD display and XM/MP3/iPod control. Tunes are blasted out of crisp 260W max power TS-C720PRS 6.75-inch component speakers, while booming bass comes courtesy of a PRS-D2000T two-channel amplifier, which feeds a slim and compact 3.25-inch deep TS-SW3041D 12-inch subwoofer. Now rocking out at new levels of sound output, this G35 has all its bases covered.

From a widened body to twin turbochargers to a powerful stereo setup, the APR G35 is the complete package, in terms of both luxury and performance. You may not be able to grab a second glance from Porsche owners in your commuter Civic, but in the APR G35, that same monkey will find himself unable to pull his eyes away. Plus, with plans to upgrade the engine with HKS forged internals and go for 650 wheel hp, this G35 will be able to smoke that piece of Eurotrash in absolute luxury, no problem.
