It's a known fact that the Japanese pioneered the drifting movement, turning the art of tire smoke and vehicle control into one of the most competitive and thrill-seeking events to hit the motorsports scene. Today, we find the drift scene growing to epic proportions as U.S. competitors and fans have fully embraced the sport-it continues to grow in popularity with no signs of slowing down. The largest and most recognized American drift marketing company, Formula D, kick starts their fourth season as we turn all eyes toward round four, where the top five competitive drivers in the rankings compete in a tight championship point's race as they once again revisit the battlefields of Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Wash. Among the top competitors battling within the 2007 Formula D Championship series are ten teams and their drivers who have officially began the new season with the debut of new drift vehicles. Dramatic changes among the ranks include 2006 Formula D champion Samuel Hubinette and his new 700hp Dodge Charger SRT-8. Rhys Millen who remained consistent throughout the 2006 season in the run for the title, officially retired his Pontiac GTO and currently sits in third place for this season in a smaller, yet more agile Pontiac Solstice.
