2006 Mitsubishi Evoluiton IX - Big Boy's Toys

A Wicked EVO IX, This Way Comes

Road grabbing, ultra-sticky 275/35-18 Nitto NT01s are wrapped around brawny, yet feathery Rays Engineering Volk Racing SE37 fit for an R34 GT-R (18x10.5; +15 offset all around). The stock Brembos have been outfitted with Ferodo DS3000 brake pads, StopTech two-piece slotted rotors up front and StopTech stainless steel brake lines pumping Motul RBF600 brake fluid.

The Rally Red Mitsubishi looks as fast as it is too. Thanks to the upgraded front bumper, lip spoiler, side skirts, over fenders, carbon rear diffuser and Type 5 GT carbon- fiber spoiler-all from JDM aero experts, Voltex. Other JDM exterior parts are the rear bumper and taillights off a Japanese-spec Evo IX and the Garage HRS widened front fenders. The SpeedElement Vortex generator, Perring 2-inch stubby antenna and Ganador carbon-fiber mirrors add the finishing touches.

For the interior of the cabin, Calvin went for a purposeful look. After all, it is a time attack car built for the streets. The carbon-Kevlar Bride Gias seats and Takata racing harnesses might look dope, but they provide lateral support during hard turns. A MXL Pista digital dash, gauge and race data acquisition from AiM Sports are also practical, as they read and store the Evo's information during track sessions. The odd-looking circle cutouts on the rear window are the Techno Mechanica Race Air Extractors, which are designed to pull excess air out of the vehicle. The Bride fabric overlaid on the rear seat, however, is purely for flossing.

So is this the baddest time attack vehicle built this side of the proverbial pond? Might be. But money, as they say, must be put where your mouth is for a claim as bold as that. And Calvin is more than up to the arduous task of walking the fast walk. Along with his shop, they've researched, tested and tuned, now all that's left is taking it to the track.
