As everyone's buzzing about new Nissan platforms, like the shamelessly leaked GT-R and the upcoming G37, it seems that the platform that started it all has nearly been forgotten: The G35.
There are those, however, who haven't forgotten at all. One such individual, the leader of the Southern Californian car club "Ar-Kan" who is known as "Pnut" (best name ever) embraces rather than rejects the "golden oldies." Pnut has no problem creating 'art' from something of the recent past; through his work he proves that it doesn't always need to be new to gain attention and respect from peers.
While the rest of the Infiniti fan boys were off selling their G35s and kidneys in anticipation of the G37, Pnut was contemplating the artistic direction of his sedan. With a platform as versatile as the G35, there were plenty of options for him to choose. In the end, he made a decision to incorporate a little bit of everything.
True to typical California car customization, Pnut started with the outer appearance of his ride. The G sedan was popular enough to have hundreds of body kits; each one with several knock-offs, which meant exclusivity would be a challenge.
Showing the world that he has more style than Ralph Lauren, Pnut imported genuine Sportec aero pieces from Switzerland, officially making the G35 the one and only in the country sporting Sportec products. He was already scoring major points before the sedan hit its first show. Staying true to the Nissan roots, a Nismo rear lip was ordered. Then, Pnut turned to the Germans and purchased a M3 rear wing.
As all the pieces landed on American soil the next move was for them to be meticulously massaged onto the car. The sedan and boxes of aerodynamic candy were taken to DTM Autobody in El Monte, Calif. The shop's staff quickly went to work, carefully measuring and test fitting each piece before it was bonded to the sedan's exterior. While at work, they decided that shaving the door moldings and bumper corner lights would set the car off nicely.

Most of the G was then painted in Candy Cobalt Blue; the roof was painted in Beluga Black, a hue normally found on Bentley Continentals. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of Ar-kan, the paint was redone in PPG Candy Magenta, while the roof maintained the baller Bentley shade. The next phase in the anniversary redux were the rollers. The previous 19-inch wheel package was scrapped in favor of 20-inch ModSport MSC-Variants. The wheels were sprayed flat black while the lips were color matched to the exterior. Each shoe was then wrapped in Dunlop Sport Maxx rubber. The final exterior mod was a Xenon Vision 6k HID bulb upgrade to light up the streets like a supernova.
Once the exterior was taken care of the focus shifted to the interior, which would soon be transformed into the ultimate automotive pleasure dome. The stock leather seats were ripped out and replaced with Recaro Topline buckets. Four-point Takata harnesses were chosen to keep driver and passenger planted securely against the seats. The stock steering wheel also had to go, in its place came a Nardi piece that was mated to a quick release splash hub. The car was also decked out with more suede than in a Prince video; the roof and the pillars are covered in the luxurious material. The door and seat inserts are adorned in suede, as well. When reaching for the shifter you'll find a Project Mu knob in hand, as well as Project Mu pedals under your feet. Icing on the cake: All the important information is displayed via Defi gauges.
