Tearing up the Hanshin Kanjo-sen (loop line) means that Miura and his pack of deviants will be picking up top speeds upwards of 225+km (approx 140 mph), particularly around the fifth bridge over Universal Studios Japan, where the sinful go for top speed runs. Power will certainly need to correspond with the appropriate amount of suspension. D-Max brand pillow-tension rods oversee fore and aft motion, while another set of D-Max sway bars fight to create left and right equilibrium. One-off spherical bushings of the same make pull in the desired amount of toe and also create the rear camber arms. For something a little more brand name, a Kei Office (that's Keichi Tsuchiya boys, as in Drift King) coilover suspension and pillow-ball mounts are finished off with front and rear D-Max strut tower bracing. To take advantage of better braking, the Nissan stock was ditched for the R33 five-lug hubs with four-pot brakes up front. The hubs, and aforementioned Rocket Bunny fenders, house dim-witted low +11 offset, with an equally stupid-wide, deep-dish 16X9.5J front and 10J rear BBS RS wheels.
When asked about style influences, our yellow afro-sporting friend said that he is mainly influenced by '70s and '80s Japanese street-style cars and Americana. Thus, the pink fuzzy dice might be the trademark of (I have to say it) Rebel Without a Cause, but at least Miura's concern for safety is evidenced by his generic brand racing buckets. Having built this car under the tight time constraint of one week, prior to Osaka Auto Messe, it's unclear whether that, or his Mad Max ribald ethos, led him to not run a cage, but the body has been seam welded in key structural areas. To complete the streetcar theme, the interior has been fitted with a Pioneer Carrozzeria high-def navigation, and ATC rally rudder controls to help evade the local keisatsu. But, when they aren't looking, a Hurst line locker facilitates easy burnouts.
It's safe to say that TRA-Kyoto's S13 might not fit the standard definition of an icon. Said better, Miura has re-envisioned a classic, in his own way. Embodied in the very character of Rocket Bunny is a lifetime of keeping corporate Japan at bay and independent thinking. For Miura is an artist...then again, he might be better described a rebel.
