Scion FR-S and tC Monogram Series Details:

  • Lineup features premium upgrades for Scion's RWD and FWD sport coupes
  • Just 2,000 Monogram FR-S and 2,500 Monogram tC will be available this year starting in February
  • Specs include exclusive leather seating, premium audio, push-button start, integrated aero and more
  • Vehicles also come standard with Scion Service Boost

If you haven't figured it out yet, Scion is big on limited editions. Through most of the brand's history, it has unleashed a number of what it calls "Release Series" limited run trim packages across its model lines that have included options from body kits and premium audio to TRD bits. Last year, Scion went even further, producing Series 10 versions of all of its cars to commemorate the youth brand's first decade of business.

At the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, Scion is at it again, this time heralding the coming of the Monogram Series.

The Monogram Series treatment is saved for two models, the RWD FR-S coupe and the FWD tC coupe. Monogram FR-S are outfitted in HID headlamps with LED daytime running lights, heated outside mirrors and a color-matched rear wing (apparently akin to what's on the Subaru BRZ). The FR-S cabin is sorted out with BeSpoke premium audio, push-button start, heated front seats and dual-zone climate controls. The interior also sports leather seats with Alcantara inserts, a frameless rearview mirror (like the JDM Toyota 86) and rear-seat center armrest.

Monogram tC meanwhile get similar BeSpoke audio, push-button start and heated front seats. The seats are trimmed in leather, the shift knob covered in leather and the center console is upgraded with accent stitching. This tC also boasts an upgraded interior door trim, color-matched rear spoiler and rear window wiper.

Monogram Series FR-S and tC will come in all the usual colors from Scion and both transmission options. Just 2,000 of these limited FR-S models and 2,500 tC models will be available this year, with pricing for the FR-S pegged around $27,400 for the six-speed manual and $28,500 for the auto, and $21,400 and $22,400 respectively for the tC in standard and auto.

Finally, Monogram Series rides include Scion Service Boost standard, a complimentary plan covering normal factory-scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first, and two years of 24-hour roadside assistance.
