This Texas-bred Civic has been prepped with the common B16A DOHC VTEC engine as a base for more power. The 1.6-liter powerplant remains in factory form internally, but the horsepower ante has been upped substantially with a healthy dose of forced-induction. The CARB-approved Jackson Racing supercharger brings boost to the party, increasing the Civic's power output by leaps and bounds. In addition to the 11 psi from the blower, a 50-hp shot of giggle gas is also on hand, pushing the factory engine's cylinder pressures to extremes.
Additional performance comes by means of a 62mm BBK throttle-body, AEM intake system, DC Sports header and custom 2 1/2-inch exhaust system. The engine bay also houses an abundance of dress-up touches that include plenty of chromed factory hardware. In contrast to the chrome, the valve cover and blower have been powdercoated in lime green and finishing touches can be found in the form of a Vitek dress-up kit.
To make use of the additional ponies, the factory Honda suspension has been tweaked with plenty of aftermarket components. In place of the stock shock and spring combination, Zamora equipped his ride with Skunk2's adjustable coil-over set-up. Also in the cornering department, the factory bushings have been swapped in favor of urethane pieces from Energy Suspension and bracing the shock towers are DC Sports strut tower bars. The transmission incorporates a lightened flywheel and high-performance clutch from Advanced Clutch Technologies to ensure that maximum power translates to the tarmac.
Zamora's will to succeed and creative stamina over the past six years has truly paid off. His Civic coupe flosses an entourage of mods from every aspect of the import aftermarket and ranks amongst the country's most elite import show cars. Zamora told us he owes much to his sponsors including Toyo Tires, AEM, Vitek, Motorsports Designs, J&Y Performance and Armando Flores, who executed the wild body mods. With backing like this, we're bettin' that Zamora's still got a bag of tricks up his sleeve.
