The summer months roll on, and your postal submissions continue to roll in. Remember Nick Pennington's letter in the Aug '09 issue? Well, as we shovel through the mountain of mailed-in responses to that little number (which we'll get to next month), read about the real-life Max boost, how we grant our readers' wishes, critique a rendering of our lovely July cover model, and drool over a pic of Luke's future ex (holla back, gt-r girl! -- LM )
Max Love
First of all (and I'm NOT kissing ass or anything), I would like to say that IT has been my magazine of choice for nearly 10 years now. You guys have influenced my choice in cars from my very first boosted '99 Honda Civic EX coupe (disaster), to my '94 Integra GSR sedan (disaster), to my current ride: an '07 Civic Si sedan (lovin' it!). I've been enjoying your pages since the early days of Max Boost, before he even had that pea-green EK Civic (whatever happened to Max Boost, anyways? I was deployed to Iraq for a while-did you guys cut him out while I was gone?). Keep doing what you do, and good luck on the Top Car Challenge . . . can't wait to see you tear the other guys up!
Arnie C., Hanford, CA
Thanks for the words, Arnie-it's nice to know we're not the only ones we inspire to destroy, neglect, or otherwise F- up the occasional project car! As for doing it right this time around, see if you can track down a copy of the May and Sept. '08 issues of 2NR for Power Pages on an eighth-gen. Civic just like yours. it's now time-attacking Buttonwillow Raceway at 2:00 flat with little else added. As for Max Boost . . . seems his creator, Autocannon founder Dennis Caco, is out living the dream for real-in a Super Lap-prepped teal EG of his own! Visit www.importtuner.com for all this stuff.
Props To Luke
Great magazine, guys! My hands-down (literally) favorite section of the book is the model interview. I'm currently in county jail awaiting trial, and 2NR gives me something to look forward to. I've owned two Integras in the past, and plan on getting another as soon as I can. How hard is it to swap a K20 into one? It would be awesome to see one in the mag in the future. Props to Luke for his flat-green DC2!
Kevin Bloomer, Wichita Falls, TX
Glad we (or at least, our cover models) could help, uh, "inspire" you. Funny . . . that very same DC2 is what landed Luke some time in the slammer-which reminds us: make sure to pay off any fix-it tickets before they turn into warrants and ruin your weekend. As for the K swap, keep reading. We have a feeling you'll like what we have for you in the coming months!
Don't Forget The Little Guys
Great magazine 2NR, but I have one request. Everyone knows cars like the GT-R, FD RX-7 and Supra kick ass-so it's no big surprise to see one built to the hilt in a magazine. Please, for the love of the micro community, could you toss in a heavily modded Fit, xD or Yaris once in a while? I know they're not the "coolest" cars that most people want to see, but the occasional 80hp micro that can overpower a turbo, AWD monster around a track? Everyone would want to see that!
Nick Colosigno, NYC
We couldn't agree more, Nick. Flip to page 26.
Indy Drift League, Brah
Sup guys? We're a band of drifting brahs from the Midwest looking for a little exposure. We usually travel to Chicago to see Formula D when it comes to town (except for this year-why you do us dirty, FD?), but aside from that, we really have no connection to the mainstream drifting world. We're badass drivers with badass cars, and no place to get discovered! Help us break out, 2NR. We need to show the world how to do this thing!
"Drifter Z", Indianapolis, IN
Aight "brah", we're gonna let you in on a little secret. No, Formula D isn't bringing pro competition to the Windy City this year, but they are scouting talent for their Pro Am series through U.S. Drift and/or HINs all season long. Similarly, D1GP is back in the States, and will be backing driver searches via D1 Underground events all across the country, including Clio, MI, in August and October, and Converse, IN, in August. Check each organization's sites for more info, and log onto www.clubfr.net for all things Midwest drift.
My Two Girls
My name is John Pinsonnault from Monson, MA. The picture is of my girlfriend and my GT-R, taken by my buddy Ian (www.nemesisphoto.com), who's an independent photographer.

This photo doesn't make the cut for Longshots-the department you wanted this to be inked in-but we couldn't pass up pressing these two rear ends somewhere between our, um . . . pages!
