I Can't Breathe!
My '06 Evo 8 is modified with a cold air intake and BOV, but I'm still looking for more power. What should my next step be? Can you give me any exhaust recommendations?Nevocicciaro, via importtuner.com forums
Bolt-on aspiration parts are usually the best place to start modifying any vehicle. Since intake, header, exhaust and the like rely on each other to maximize airflow, maximum gains aren't usually noticed until the addition of the last piece. Especially in the case with your turbo Evo, replacing the restrictive stock catback exhaust (and eventually downpipe and outlet pipe, too) with something more free-flowing will make a huge difference, and pave the way for future mods to come. We recommend the low-profile A'PEXi Noir or the GReddy SP2 cat-back systems for the street, or something along the lines of Megan Racing's 3-inch system for all-out race performance.
Messin' With the Little Guy
I have a Nissan Sentra that I planned to modify, but I did some research and found out I can't turbo the 1.6L GXE. I'm kinda new to the racing scene as far as engine know-how and was wondering if you could advise me on how I could build up the car. Or should I just sell it and get an SE or SE-R? If you could give me some advice, I'd appreciate it.2FST4U_07, via importtuner.com forums
It seems you may have gotten some mis-guided information. We've actually seen a number of turbocharged, stock-block GA16s, some even putting down as much as 240-plus whp running crappy 91-octane pump gas. A few companies actually made kits for the GA16, until pieced-together DIY kits started to take over. Still, whether or not turboing a stock GA16 can be done so easily and reliably remains in debate. Spending some scrill on custombuilt internals for the little guy would help out, but at that cost, a better option might be to swap in one of its SR20DE or DET bigger cousins. The possibilities with either of these engines are endless. Check out www.jimwolftechnology.com for guidance either way.
Z30 Blues
I'm buying a 300ZX soon and need to know how good the aftermarket is for it. I want to buy some sort of minor body kit and also get a new exhaust and header. Can someone link me to some good sites with these parts? I was also wondering if anyone knows of any 300ZX forums. Thanks to anyone that can help.Ljastangs21, via importtuner.com forums
Ljastangs21, You forgot the golden rule of asking for advice about your car: Always, always include the year, trim level, and other pertinent information (turbo or naturally aspirated, 5sp or auto). To answer your question, yes, there is quite a strong aftermarket support for the 300ZX, especially if you're lucky enough to have scored a Z32 ('89 or higher) 300zx twin turbo model. In any case, start with the basic bolt-on upgrades: Intake (and intercooler w/piping, if applicable), exhaust and suspension. Shops like Z1 Motorsports or SPL Parts will be able to point you in the right direction, and look to www.300zxclub.com for helpful guidance.
