2nr: A pair of Michael Kors? Miu Miu's? BCBGs?AL: No I'd buy Dior glasses, Dior shoes, and a Dior or Chanel purse and some Frankie Bs. I feel guilty with perfume because I bought Lancome Miracle and I don't use it as often as I should.
2nr: What's the nicest thing that anyone ever given you?AL: No one buys me stuff. I don't think I've gotten anything extravagant. OH! My dad bought me a Teacup Maltese. It's a white puffy dog...so cute!
2nr: People must give you compliments all the time.AL: Yeah. But that gets old. I was raised in a family that really downplayed physical beauty and focused on teaching me to build my character and having a good personality. It's flattering that people say that I'm really pretty but I'd rather have someone tell me that I'm really funny.
Now, if you were going to give me a million dollars I'd spend it all on my parents and give them the life that they've always wanted. My whole thing about making money is based on that goal of mine.
2nr: You are soooo funny!AL: Huh?2nr: You'll never get a million from me.
2nr: What's gives you motivation?AL: My brother Dan. He's the lead singer in a rock band called Augustana that got signed a year ago. Their sound is like a Coldplay or Counting Crows. They're on the radio and MTV now and whenever I see or hear them, I feel motivated to do my stuff.
2nr: Seems like it'd be a great thing to tell your brother to put you in a video.AL: I know! I told him that he better put me in a video.2nr: If I were in a rock band, I'd put you in a video.
2nr: Let's blast through some favorites. Let's start with food.AL: I love Filipino food-but just the normal stuff like rice and Adobo. Also, there's this place down the street from me called Pepe's. They make the hugest burritos...huge everything.
2nr: You like huge burritos. Noted. Favorite car?AL: I like the M3. For import cars, I like the STi, but right now, I'm into SUVs like Range Rovers and Hummers.
2nr: I like Hummers too. Favorite music?AL: It depends on my mood but my favorite CD right now is my brother's album.
2nr: Favorite thing to do when you have free time?AL: I love snowboarding. I've been boarding for eight seasons now. I love it so much that I'll take a day and go to Big Bear or Mountain High by myself.
2nr: Do you do anything crazy?AL: What to you mean?
2nr: You know what I mean.AL: Nothing crazy.
2nr: It's been a while since we've selected someone from the scene. How'd we find you?AL: Well my profile is on Myspace and one of the editors found me.
2nr: It was probably Scott. He's always scouring Myspace.AL: Yeah. I found out that he was an editor and I asked when I could be on the cover of 2nr. He kinda laughed and didn't take me too seriously. So I started to bug him and emailed him everyday, "So when can we talk about me and the cover of the magazine?". Finally he called me up and told me that there was a non-cover shoot and if I'd be available. Everyone told me that if I do a feature that I'd never get the cover but I was like "I'm gonna get the cover!" I guess that you guys liked the feature enough to call me for the cover!
