Up Close & Personal: Cherie Roberts

Would you believe it, back-to-back cover models discovered at the Import Tuner party. That kinda tells you where to be the next time Tuner throws a shindig. Last month's cover model, Natasha Yi, was a great find. This month's discovery is none other than Hot Import Nights hottie, Cherie Roberts.

Cherie was born, raised and still lives in the Bay Area, but on Thanksgiving weekend, she made the trip from Oakland to kick it at the Fourth Annual Import Tuner party. A very wise decision on her part 'cause gracing this month's April 2001 Import Tuner cover is this Bay Area Babe.

2NR: So, you're the new Ms. Hot Import Nights model. How do you like their shows?

CR: The first one I went to was the one in Santa Clara, near my place. It was cool, but I didn't get to walk around much; it didn't help that it was cold. The San Diego show is the first one I will appear at with the title Ms. Hot Import Nights. I heard this one gets really packed.

2NR: I guess that means you're going to do a lot of traveling this year. Are you going to any cool places?

CR: Yeah, I'm going to Texas, Florida, New Jersey, Chicago, Seattle and all the California shows.

2NR: So, you're going to all these places out of state, but is there going to be a jealous boyfriend staying home?

CR: Nope, I don't have a boyfriend. I haven't had one for about a year, and I'm not really looking for one at this time in my life. At the time that I did have one, he would get really mad about the whole modeling thing, so since I'm still modeling, I figure I don't need to hear that kinda of talk right now. My last boyfriend was really a jerk, though.

2NR: It took you four years to realize he was a jerk?

CR: No, it was off and on for four years. I would break up with him all the time, but then I was so stupid. He would come back to me and I'd fall for his lines every time. He would always say, "I'm gonna change, I promise it will be different this time." Then he would be really cool for about three weeks until he went back to being a jerk. I think I would always go back to him 'cause he was the only one that I've ever gone out with, so when I felt alone, he was the one I would always go back to. After him I kinda went out on a couple of dates with another guy; that started going back in the same direction as my first boyfriend--he didn't want me to model, either.

2NR: So I take it you didn't really party much when you had a boyfriend?

CR: Actually, I did when I was younger. I was 21 when I was 15. (lol)

2NR: I don't get it.

CR: I had a fake ID when I was 15, so I used to go to clubs all the time. I think that's what got all the partying out of me by the time I actually turned 21. It's funny 'cause I found the ID at a store I used to work at. It didn't even look like me, but I would get in to clubs all the time.

2NR: Didn't you get questioned a lot? You were 15 and it's hard to look 21 when you're 15.

CR: I did but my answer was always (angry voice), "How old do you think I am!?" When they would give me an answer, I wouldn't answer them. That was my way of avoiding the question. I would never answer just in case there were narks or something there. The funny thing is, I got carded more when I turned 21 then I did when I was 15. Right when I turned 21, I went to Las Vegas. I couldn't walk 10 feet without getting carded.

2NR: Don't think of it as an insult 'cause later you'll think it's a compliment. So, do you find the club scene more interesting now that you're of age?

CR: Well, since I did that whole deal early, I think I got it all out of me before I turned 21. I go every now and then, though. I tend to stay away 'cause a lot of the guys are jerks. The other day there was this guy that was a total asshole. When guys ask me to dance, I either dance with them or I'll tell them maybe later 'cause I might just want to hang out. Well, I told that to one guy and he just started going off on me saying, "F*@$ you then, b**#@! What are you, too good for me?" I was like, what the heck did I do to him? Not to say all guys are like that, but a lot of them are in at some clubs. The only cool thing about this is every time this happens, they end up getting kicked out 'cause they're so loud, drunk and obnoxious. The worst is when they're so drunk they think they have the right to go up to you and just grab your ass. It's almost like they think I say, "Hey, come over here and grab my ass!"

2NR: Man, I don't know what kinda biker bars you hang out in, but the clubs I go to don't sound that crazy. I was in Vegas last year and I hung out with Nikki Lupian (January '01 cover model) and her friends and some guy totally grabbed her ass; she turned around and hit the guy and started going off on him. That was so cool. That chick can box!

CR: When it happens to my girlfriends, they always end up slapping the guy but for some reason I can't do that. I just end up saying, "Yeah, can you please not do that." But because I say it like that, they think they can still get away with it. Damn, I hate that! These kinds of guys are pigs.

2NR: Any last words to our male readers who aren't pigs?

CR: Yeah. Come to Hot Import Nights!

2NR: And don't grab your ass?

CR: Most definitely do not grab my ass!

Cherie Roberts is taking over the crown of Ms. Hot Import Nights for the 2001 season. After this interview, she was on her way to make her first HIN appearance in San Diego, Calif. Considering the size of the Southern California show scene (and not to mention the shows across the nation), this Bay Area babe is making her mark on the import show scene. (And yeah, I did ask her one last question. The answer? No, they aren't bolt-ons. Her 34Cs are 100 percent natural.)
