In any normal situation the model interview goes really well because I usually don't know the model, so it makes it easier for me to ask questions. I think my questions speak for themselves. In any case, this marked the first time I would interview a model I have known since she first started in the scene. Also, this is the second time we would have two girls hit the cover of Import Tuner, and the first time I would have to interview two hot chicks. What to do and how to do this was the dilemma, but once the tape started rolling the two girls made the job very easy.
As I stated earlier, I was very close to one of the models and she started in the import scene at an early age. I've known Crystal Kench for about seven years now and she has not only modeled for many companies, but she used to compete heavily in the import racing scene. As a matter of fact, back in my Dynamic Autosport days she was a regular customer that came in to get a nitrous refill on a weekly basis. Later we realized that Crystal had a little sister, and we figured if she looked anything like Crystal it would be the perfect opportunity to do a two-model cover again. It turns out little sis, Malia Kench, is just as hot as her sister, but if you think Malia followed in her sister's footsteps you're wrong; the two are living completely different lifestyles. Regardless of their differences the two seem to share one thing in common, and that's their family pride. It's two sisters like this that would make me want to come to their house for the holidays. 2NR: Just by hanging out with the two of you I can tell that you both lead two different lives. Is that true?
CK: I like a lot of R&B, rap and some alternative.
MK: I'm a rock and roll girl.
2NR: I know that there must have been plenty of fights between the two of you, so I want you to give me the most recent one and one of the most memorable ones.
MK: There was this one time at band camp! (Laughs) No, the most recent one was last night when we were down in San Diego and I missed the last U.S. off ramp, so we ended up in Tijuana. It was my fault, but yeah we went at it in the car. Crystal was mad 'cause we had been drinking...
CK: We had been drinking? You had been drinking!
MK: OK, I had been drinking, but she was driving and she got all mad because I didn't tell her to exit, and she just started whining, "I want to go back to my boyfriend's house."
CK: My boyfriend's house! More like my house.
MK: Oh yeah, I'm sorry Crystal's house.
CK: We didn't fight like punch each other...not that bad. We were screaming at each other right at the border stop back over to the U.S. side. Actually, come to think of it I guess we were kinda punching each other a lot. The one time I got really mad at you was when you scratched my face a long time ago.
MK: Oh, I didn't scratch your face! Oh wait, you mean when we were wrestling? That wasn't that bad. Damn, I feel like I'm in therapy. (Laughs)
2NR: What happened?
CK: Well, we were just screwing around wrestling and she scratched me.
2NR: Oh well, that's just horsing around, not like a real fight.
CK: Well, it was a big scratch and it didn't go away for a long time. 2NR: I'm gonna change the subject before you guys start fighting. Do you guys enjoy the same types of food?
CK: I love to cook. I like a lot of different type of Filipino dishes. I guess you can say that's my specialty, cooking Filipino food. I like Spam and rice for breakfast.
MK: I hate cooking. I prefer to eat out all the time. For breakfast I like to go to this place in Huntington Beach called Michelle's. All I get is two pieces of toast, a bowl of fruit and three egg whites.
2NR: So I take it you eat healthy and Crystal eats like me, greasy Filipino food?
CK: Yup. Oh, I also know how to make Korean barbecue.
MK: I like a lot of different types of take-out but I hate cooking. I'll call up, make my order and pick it up as long as I don't have to make it.
2NR: Oh, I can't cook either. It takes too much time. Being part Italian you guy probably make your spaghetti sauce from scratch right?
CK: That's the only way to eat spaghetti. I make the whole thing from scratch.
MK: Not me, I buy Prego or Ragu and I'll add all the stuff I want into it. (Crystal laughs at her sister)
2NR: So did you guys eat it Filipino style with hot dogs as a replacement for meatballs?
CK: My mom use to give it to us like that.
MK: Yeah, I remember that.
2NR: After hearing all this I have a feeling that Crystal can speak Tagalog but Malia can't. Am I right?
CK: We lived in the Philippines for a year when we were younger so we both understand it and can speak it.
MK: We understand it pretty well and I can speak it, but I just choose not to because that accent sounds horrible.
2NR: On to the boyfriend question. Crystal I already know you have a boyfriend so the question is now yours, Malia.
MK: Short answer no. (Crystal laughs)
2NR: If you don't have a boyfriend why is your sister laughing?
MK: (Laughs) I don't know. Crystal, do I have a boyfriend?
CK: I don't know, do you? (Laughs)
2NR: There's an inside joke going on here right?
MK: Just put status: single. Crystal has to say that she has a boyfriend because one, she does, and two, her boyfriend would get mad if she said no. (Laughs)
CK: I was going to say yes!
2NR: OK, there are a bunch of differences between you two, but what do you guys have in common besides blood and beauty?
CK: We both stand up for each other if we are in trouble. If Malia is in trouble with a guy or girl she knows I have her back and she feels the same if I were to get in trouble.
MK: We also used to do a lot of pageants together.
CK: I remember our mom use to always sign us up for those things and they break them up into age groups, and one year I won for my age group and she won for hers. Our mom was so happy.
MK: We also used to work together at this Italian restaurant.
2NR: Actually, I remember when Crystal used to work there.
CK: Yeah, I worked there with my sister. She was a hostess and I was a server.
MK: The funny thing is we both quit around the same time. I quit first and then Crystal quit.
CK: I was like, well if Malia isn't here then I have no reason to be here.
MK: Oh yeah, another thing we have in common is that we both love to eat at Cheesecake Factory.
CK: Yeah, and our favorite drink is a strawberry martini.
2NR: Wow, so there are similarities between you two. There is one thing that I've noticed is physically different between the two of you.
CK: Ha ha. I know you too well, Gary! Still the dirty dog I've known throughout the years. Yes my boobs are fake, but you already knew that.
2NR: I guess you do know me. What about your answer Malia?
MK: Come on now, look at these. Real, of course.
2NR: Nothing wrong with that.
