Of course, this year's SEMA Show was full of great products, but one thing I noticed that was better than last year were the hot models at the show. It seemed as though the number of hot chicks had doubled, which meant we weren't just on the prowl for new products; we were also on the lookout for future cover models. After walking about three miles of vendor isles, and having 17 miles more to go, we decided to pay a visit to our friend, Kenny Tran, since his car was in the AC Autotecnic booth...OK, we're lying. Kenny's a cool guy and all, but the buzz around the show was AC had some smoking-hot models in its booth--oh, and I think it had car parts, too! Our main objective was to use Kenny's car as a reason to hang out at AC's booth to get a better look at the girls--sorry Kenny. This month's model is Ms. Mary J., straight out the LBC.
We've had models who have been shy, outgoing and stuck up, but most of them are normal, sane people like you and me--OK, like you. This was by far the first time we've had one who had coffee for blood. Wait, scratch that; this girl had espresso for blood. I mean, you couldn't stop this girl from bouncing off the walls of the studio to get a still shot of her. If you think Jason had a hard time doing the cover shoot, wait until you hear how the interview went.
The deal was to meet for lunch in her hometown of Long Beach. She stated she could never get enough of In & Out Burger, and having the potty mouth that I have, I was almost tempted to say, "Did you say you have the In & Out urge?" I actually controlled myself, passed on the dirty remark, and just told her I'd meet her at noon. Little did I know this chick is the happiest, most free-spirited, spur-of-the-moment girl I've ever met. We hooked up in the parking lot and before I could even say hi, She blurted out, "Hey, there's an AMC 20 theater across the street--let's watch 'Friday After Next' before we start the interview!" Two hours later, we were finally sitting at her favorite burger joint, In & Out, talking about how dope Ice Cube was in the movie and how much she loves hip hop. This girl is one of a kind, but if you ever want to talk to her be sure to pack a lot of Ritalin.
2NR: Since you consider dancing a sport, which dance would be your specialty?
MJ: I've been doing all types of dancing since I was seven. I started at a young age with ballet and tap, but now I just enjoy dancing to hip-hop, jazz, modern, marenga and other different styles. Now I just dance at clubs for fun.
2NR: Strip clubs
MJ: Ha, no way! Nightclubs, dummy!
2NR: I was about to say, "You're a spaz, so you would probably wear out the guys." Did you party a lot while you were out in Vegas for the SEMA Show?
MJ: No, not really because we had to work every day and we couldn't stay out long.
2NR: I take it you have a fake ID when you do go out?
MJ: Yeah, I use my sister's. I'm actually pretty shy when it comes to going out. I never really had to approach a guy I thought was cute. If I'm interested in someone I just have to pray they approach me.
2NR: Since you're under age at 21-and-up clubs, how old are some of the guys that have hit on you?
MJ: Oh, I've had them anywhere from 21 to 58.
2NR: 58! You got to tell us what happened with that!
MJ: This was at a place called Mariposa in Long Beach. It's actually a restaurant but at night it turns into a club. Well, this guy was hanging out at the bar by himself. The initial conversation started by him buying me a drink. I thought that was cool so I sat there with him and just talked to him for a bit. He was actually very attractive for an old guy, but let me just say this, I'm not into older guys; they just happen to pick up on me and I wasn't into this guy at all. Well, to finish the story, he tried to win me over with material things. He told me he had a boat and would take me to Italy, and talked about how big his house was, but I'm not into material things and I'm not that stupid to fall for things like that. It ended on a good note, though. I told him thanks for the drink but I had to get back with my friends, so we said our goodbyes.
2NR: You didn't pass out on the floor later 'cause he gave you a roofy? So, that was one of the oldest guys that hit on you, but what was one of the strangest?
MJ: My 43-year-old political science professor. This one is actually kind funny, I was just sitting down at the cafeteria studying and this guy told me that I was really cute and I should take his class. I just kinda blew him off and was like yeah, whatever. He never said what class it was and I never got his name. Well, the following year I took a political science class and it ended up being this guy's class. No, we never went out or anything, but I did get an A in the class.
2NR: Sure you never went out with him, that F just magically turned into and A. What's your normal GPA?
MJ: (lol) No, I promise I never went out with him and that semester my grade point average was a 3.1, and it's normally higher than that, so ha! I still have three more years to go, too.
2NR: That's probably cause you've had all male teachers that were in love with you, huh. You're a pretty smart girl then?
MJ: Yep, smart enough to get a scholarship. It's more of a teaching scholarship. I'm trying to be a teacher...actually my job right now is a teacher's assistant at a high school, so I have a unified school district employee number, and I'm bilingual, so that's how I got the scholarship.
2NR: OK; now I have to ask how many kids in highschool have asked you out.
MJ: Oh man, that's not even funny. I don't even want to go there!
2NR: OK, that's cool, I don't want to get you in trouble and I don't want detention.
MJ: Thanks.
2NR: So, now that almost every type of guy has picked you up, here's the big question. Is there a boyfriend?
MJ: No, there is someone I'm interested in but nothing is set in stone.
2NR: Real or fake?
MJ: These are real 36Bs, and it's against my morals to make them bigger, but I'm often tempted to! I don't think I'll do it, but the thought has crossed my mind
2NR: What shows can we expect to see you at, and are you with any particular company?
MJ: This year I'm going to be modeling for Speed Zone. That's the place with the go-kart tracks. It also does a lot of shows. As far as import shows, I want to do more ,but I have no obligations for any as of right now.
2NR: I understand you just started your own Web site?
MJ: Yeah, it started out mainly for posting contact information if somebody wanted me to model for them, but now it's expanding to something much bigger.
2NR: Is there any nudity on it? Because, you know, we don't condone that type of stuff.
MJ: (Laughs) I guess you'll just have to log on and find out, huh?
2NR: That sounds fair, I'll find out. I understand you're into a lot of the underground hip-hop?
MJ: I love underground hip-hop! Everything from B boy and MC battles to the different styles of rap, as opposed to the mainstream stuff. I do like mainstream rap, but I prefer groups such as Jurassic 5 and De La Soul. It seems like they are becoming more mainstream though.
2NR: J5 is the shit! Last question. Top or bottom?
MJ: What do you mean, is this like a clothing question?
2NR: No...not exactly. Think of the question in a sexual way.
MJ: Oh, I get it now! I wouldn't know; I'm a virgin.
2NR: Shut up! Are you serious?
MJ: I'm waiting for that right person to come along.
2NR: Doh!!!
