Up Close & Personal: Kallie

By votes alone the 2NR readers agree that 2003's Import Tuner Model Search winner, Presented by Hankook Tires, is smoking. Granted, the photos are dope, but you're missing out on another aspect of her. If you ever get a chance to talk with her you'll get to experience a straight-up sensual, bubbly and up-beat conversation, that is if you can focus on not peeing your pants and not slurring your words while staring at her bodaciousness.

When it was time to do the interview she, being from a cold and wet Seattle, really wanted to take advantage of the Southern California weather and chat outside. There were too many distractions outside--trains passing, cars revving, random employees taking smoke breaks, perverted, drooling studio help--but this girl already had me in her grips and, apparently from all the additional distractions, had the others (girls included) clawing for a peek and a little attention.

Seattle's got two things that'll heat you up--Starbuck's, and our 2NR Model Search winner, Kallie.

2NR: What's up with the lack of a full name? I know it can't just be as simple as "Kallie."
K: Full name!? OK, it's Malaia Kallie Nicole Balinbin. Balinbin is the Filipino part of my name.

2NR: WTF?
K: Well the Greek version of my first name is Ameliakallieopi.

2NR: And by looks alone your last name could be Bin Ballin. Do you know your Chinese sign?
K: Is it a doe? Maybe sheep? I don't know!

2NR: Funny. Those are either related to money or unmentionable man versus animal behavior. What's your Zodiac sign?
K: Scorpio Shinggg! We're all about goodness, intensity and emotions. We're run by our emotions. We're so powered by our emotions that it alters the way we act and think. It's natural for a Scorpio to be overcome by jealousy and vengeance. I'm not that way anymore. Those positive traits are the ones I keep. My intensity shows in the way that I feel, believe and act. But I'm also full of contradiction. For example I'm either eating really, really healthy--like vegetables, soy, blah, blah, blah--or Jack-in-the-Box, pizza, lasagna, fries, soda and all that stuff. Just extreme. I'm very meticulous about things. As far as modeling goes, I have a very sexual side of myself--and I embrace that; I like it--so I'll like the provocative type pictures. I wouldn't mind doing Playboy. But on the other side there's a part of me that doesn't want the world to see it--I took Playboy-esque pictures and the only person I gave them to was my boyfriend!

2NR: You know what kind of person does that?
K: Who?

2NR: A flasher!
K: Hey you never know! I might be one of those too! Oh another example: I love the single life but I have the other side. I have a son and I'd like to be married.

2NR: What you need is a part-time husband and a part-time boyfriend. There's lot of guys that could make that happen. You just have to find a gullible man and a player. I know one already.

A train passes. I start to chat with the video guy, Brendan.

Brendan: Guess who I ran into? XXXX!

2NR: Where? Doesn't he still work for us? Brendan: No, he got fired about a year ago.
K: Oh my God! You know XXXX?

2NR: Uh...yeah.
K: I'm so full of shit. OK, the train went by.

2NR: Oh, You're so funny. Should we get back to you then?
K: Uh. OK!

2NR: What kind of music are you listening to these days?
K: I like hip hop. But I like everything except for country. I'm from Seattle. I grew up a grunge kid. I use to sneak out and go to Nirvana and Pearl Jam shows--before they got huge and when they had them in small intimate settings.

2NR: So you snuck out.
K: Oh no! I knew you'd catch that. I was bad! Bad. Bad. Bad.

2NR: I bet you were. You are a bad girl. Bad. Bad. Bad.
K: I look at my son--he is so gorgeous--but he will never get away with anything because I know it all; because I got away with it ALL.

2NR: What's something you got away with?
K: Sorry mom and dad, I know you're gonna read this. I hate to say it but I got away with everything. I skipped school and snuck the car out. I think I started driving back in the ninth grade!

2NR: The ninth grade?
K: No one had licenses.

2NR: That's a surprise.
K: I'd go and scoop everyone up (pretends to put an arm on the wheel, pinky up, gangster leanin') and we'd be ROLLIN'! We felt soooo cool. At seventeen my girl and me had our first fake I.D.s so we'd be kicking it in bars.

2NR: Is that "right"? (I give her "the look" and roll my eyes toward the camera)
K: Oh yeah. No It's not right to do that stuff though. No, definitely not right. The I.D.s were not right at all... because I got a few confiscated!

2NR: What's your favorite car? I mean besides the one we're shooting today.
K: A Maybach Benz. It's so huge a car that I'd need a driver. Get me Aston Kutcher!

2NR: Have you ever used your looks to get out of a ticket?
K: I've got the worst driving record in the whole entire world.

2NR: Well you started in the ninth grade.
K: I got my first ticket three days after I got my license.

2NR: Oh, where's my tissue? Tear.
K: I once paid $2500 to get my license reinstated. But that was because--

2NR: Here's the excuse. Go ahead.
K: I know. I have an excuse for everything. Every time I go to court the judge just laughs in amazement.

2NR: I guess you do make others laugh. Did he give you a personalized seat in the courtroom?
K: I think I'm a sponsor to the entire city. I think the only reason I have a license is because I pay the city so much money. Now that I think of it, I think that he should buy me a bench. I'm helping to build the new freeway.

More interruptions happen. Jason, our editor, decides he needs a break from lounging on the couch in the studio for a smoke outside. He barges through the door, nearly knocking over the camera equipment. He pauses then lights up and proceeds to pass us with a smile you'd normally see on helmeted kids getting on the bus at the local elementary school.

2NR: Let's talk about what turns you on. You say you're very sexual.
K: Yes. Sexual, but I'm also sensual.

2NR: OK, yeah. Very sensual. But let's talk about sexual.
K: OK, heeeyyy! Holla!

At this point our limey editor tries to interrupt with a diss but no one can understand because he doesn't speak English too well. We move on.

2NR: What is it about a man, sexually, that you like?
K: Sexually. Um. (nervous giggles) I just like a man that knows what he's doing. A man that can just take control but is willing to be taken control of! You know what I mean.

2NR: I've got some ideas. Tell me how you would want a man to romance you.
K: Can I speak from a personal story?

2NR: Tell me a story.
K: I've completely fallen in love with this guy.

2NR: I don't like this story already.
K: He's so different from the typical guy I've been with.

2NR: Well what's your typical guy?
K: My typical guy is just...FINE! I don't have a specific racial preference. You just have to be fine. But fine to me is not just gorgeous looks. It's the whole package. Style is everything. It's about the way he presents himself. I can't stand the guy with the ego, the cool guy that walks like this and thinks he's the shit. A guy that IS the shit doesn't have to act like it. He's also got to have a sense of humor and just be real. If you're real you're somebody who doesn't have to lie or have to play the game to have game. Do you wanna know my philosophy on game?

2NR: I'm not stopping you because I'm really interested.
K: You should be! My philosophy is this: I'm not a player but I have a tremendous abundance of game. I don't have to lie, play or sneak to get guys to stay. When I'm single I date and I'll have different guys. I don't play the oh-yeah-baby-you're-the-one roll. I'm straight up. They all know I'm seeing other people. They don't know who each of them are, but they know. If anyone calls, I'm not hesitant to let him know where I'm going, what I'm doing...

2NR: I guess you'd have to find a guy that's accepting of the open relationship.
K: Exactly. It's a trust thing. I've only known one or two guys that have been that way with me. My intuition, which is another Scorpio trait, is off the hook. I've had crazy intuition my whole life. I've been right on a lot of things.

2NR: Maybe you just think you're right.
K: No. When I'm wrong I can admit it.

2NR: I think you might be wrong.
K: No. There's a difference between being a player and having game. A player has to play game in order to get a girl to stay. A person with true game can tell the absolute truth and still have them stay.

2NR: Look at it this way. You're very beautiful and it's true that you could basically choose any guy you want to be with. You'll introduce yourself and end up going out with them for a while. In a couple months you'll have them whupped--and I know YOU know which ones will end up whupped. At that point you could say you're going to Vegas for a weekend and know you'll have someone on the other end of the phone slurring out a sniffled, "Oh-kayy. Bye-bye," and still be at your beck and call when you get back.

We pause as another train rolls by.

2NR: I want you to be screaming my name.
K: What?

2NR: I said I feel like I'm going insane.

The train passes.

K: You know, I almost thought I lost my game. OK, well maybe I was just losing my winning streak. I was seeing this guy and I kinda laid down the law with him.

2NR: Excuse me. Laid down the law?
K: I told him how it was going to be. He didn't like it. He was like "F-- that, I'm not doing this." I really liked him and thought it sucked that he didn't do it my way. We didn't talk for a while and I thought that sucked.

2NR: It sucks that you couldn't see other guys while you were with him?
K: Well, we were young. Anyway, sure enough, I get a call three weeks later with him saying, "Well I've been thinking and, uh, you're right. We're young..." I put my hands up like I just knocked out Iron Mike.

2NR: Whatever.
K: The messed up part about it is that I met the guy I'm in love with now. I wasn't feeling the other guy anymore.

2NR: What does the guy your with now do to make you stay?
K: I'm single and free to do what I want but he's the only guy I've continued to date since I met him.

2NR: How long has it been?
K: It's been like six months.

2NR: And the longest was?
K: Three years. If I'm single, I'm really single. But when I'm committed I'm REALLY committed.

2NR: But this is the beginning stage; the getting-to-know-you-stage. C'mon now. It's just six months. There's still many of us that could take you away to Vegas.
K: That's true. Hey there's no rock on this finger but my heart is a different story. A guy has got to make me laugh. I can't make myself laugh all day. I mean, I can, but it just gets old.

2NR: If you made yourself laugh all day long it'd be kinda creepy.
K: I make other people laugh too! I do! I've got to have somebody that throws it back at me.

2NR: Lets go the opposite route. What kind of guy bugs you?
K: Bug-a-boos--Stop calling me all day long. I can't stand guys that ask what you're doing all the time. When you keep seeing that number pop up or when you don't answer a guy's call for three months but still get that weekly call and message--ugh! I'm a busy person. Sometimes If I don't call you back it's not because I don't want to. Obviously if you have my phone number I gave it to you for a reason. I don't just give it to anyone. Sometimes I just don't have time to talk. I also don't like guys that try to front by having these lavish dates. A woman can do that herself. A guy that tries to give you everything is just a showing that they're lacking in other areas.

2NR: Watch it now. You're treading on thin ice.
K: If a guy starts fronting like that from the get-go it's kinda fake. The guy I'm with now won me over totally through conversation. I would much rather sit at a coffee shop, or sit some place with a glass of wine--maybe a park. Guys always think that they have to impress you. If they're my definition of real then they're just being themselves.

2NR: What's the worst place to meet a guy?
K: I don't know.

2NR: Try the park!
K: Its true. You could meet a guy anywhere but where you meet him sets the stage for where it'll go. If you meet a guy at a club then you know he's a partier. He'd be like, "It's Friday! Where you goin'? Where's after hours?" I'd be like, "My house! In the hot tub!"

2NR: I was just kidding with the question, but gimme that pound gurl!
K: If you meet a guy at a park then I guess you go there again next time, but if you go to a strip club...

2NR: Heyyy, now we're talking. I could guess that you've been to a few strip clubs.
K: Oh yeah! I've been to a LOT of strip clubs. I like strip clubs.

2NR: Do you like getting the lap dances or do you just watch the person you're with get them while you giggle off to the side?
K: It goes both ways.

2NR: I'd hoped that.
K: I'm a guy's girl. I hang out with more guys that I do girls. Girls bug me.

2NR: Gee I wonder why guys would want to hang out with you. (I use this opportunity to check her out) Especially at a strip club.
K: I'll be buying them lap dances, calling over the girls I think are pretty, then of course when it's over they're like "Your turn!"

2NR: You don't argue. Good trait.
K: The reason why I don't look down on strip clubs is because I think women are beautiful. If I see a pretty woman, I tell her. Other pretty women don't intimidate me. All my best girlfriends are beautiful. It's not like the five ugly ones and the one fine one! I've been a dancer my whole life. If I see a girl doing her thing I just love it; I think it's bomb. Sometimes I'm asking myself, "Damn, how does she do that while all oiled up on that pole?" or, "How did she wrap her legs around that guy's head at that angle?!" How does she do that? I wanna learn that!

2NR: So a strip club can be an educational tool for you.
K: It could be! I saw at this girl at a party the other week do the craziest thing and I was like dude, I gotta learn that...that's the shit right there.

2NR: They have amateur nights.
K: I don't want to do it for other people! I wanna do it for my man--on the DL of course.

2NR: So I guess you've got some sex appeal.
K: I've been told once or twice.

2NR: Too bad you can only count up to two. I'm sure you already know that your son is gonna grow up with the fact that--
K: I'm a MILF? I totally am the soccer MILF!

2NR: Dimitri is going to be so envied, or traumatized. I hear you're into sports.
K: I love sports. I've been a ballerina my whole life but I've played softball, soccer, track and gymnastics. There was a sport I excelled at and was MVP four years straight--and even had a full ride but didn't take it. Take a guess.

2NR: Croquet?
K: No. Rugby. It was crazy. I'd be all muddy and go to ballet. In Seattle there weren't many rugby teams so we had to go to Canada to play colleges. I learned how to fight in rugby--so don't mess with me, although I got knocked out one time. I cleated some girl and this six-foot Canadian chick came out of nowhere and socked me in the face. Next thing I knew I was woke op on the field and we both got kicked out.

2NR: There's something really sexy about girls getting rough and going at it.
K: Hold on. One of the reasons why I didn't accept my scholarship at Vassar is because--how do I not offend?--rugby chicks are mullets and hairy legs and beer guzzlers. It's a fun sport though. I got so good the coach would make me practice with guys. Half wanted to tackle me, the others wanted to grill me. Watch out, I could tackle a 200-pound guy!

2NR: Down, girl. How bout just getting rough with a 185-pound guy with a microphone? What do you see yourself doing with your newly acquired title?
K: Instead of being the model I'd like to be the one throwing the show. I'd like to go back to school but I've been really fortunate for my jobs. I have an incredible resume. I could get any job that I want short of requiring brain surgery.

2NR: It's easier to hire a pretty girl.
K: That's true. I can't say that that hasn't happened to me. I can just smile and bullshit my way through the interview. I'm a wonderful bullshitter. I told you, I got away with a lot when I was younger. I would want to be a florist and own a flower shop. Since I love clothes--I buy them and change them in my own way--I'd want to make clothes. I don't know. There are so many things I'd like to do. My main focus, however, is my son, so my one ultimate goal in the next five years is to own my own home with a basketball court and a couple of dogs for my son. But for now I'll always have my hands full with things I want to do.

2NR: Do you have anything to say to your supporters and your future fans?
K: Is this video going on the website?

2NR: Yeah.

She starts to lift up her shirt.

2NR: Whoa! Wait a second! I'm on the wrong side of the camera.
K: Well you said I was a flasher!

2NR: Not so fast. Let's get to that after the rugby training.

She thinks she can play me. I got game. I got so much game I gave her MY number. Yeah. She says she has to leave for home soon and that I should just go and type my interview. She's so thoughtful. Oh-kayy. Bye-bye.
