Wanted: A Free Ride
What's up? I am 19 and have always loved racing. I am new to tuning and have a '97 Civic EX. I am looking for sponsors to fix up my ride so I can compete in shows and become one step closer to actually racing (legitimately). I would appreciate any info you may have to offer either about sponsers or the best route to go with my setup. So far all I have done to my car is put an after-cat on it and some 17-inch black Motegi rims. My real passion is racing, but I would also love to be involved with your mag. Thanks for putting together a great mag.

Patience, young Skywalker! We get e-mails like this all the time, and the answer never changes: You gotta put your lumps in, and prove yourself before anyone will risk going out on a limb to help you out. Would you walk into a bank, with no credit history, and expect to walk out with a $100,000 loan? That'd be like never having gone to school, yet applying for scholarships to Yale just because you "think you got what it takes". You might-but who's going to believe you? To grab the attention of company owners who might want you to represent their businesses, you have to demonstrate to them that you do have what it takes, and can be trusted to deliver a return on their investments. To do that, invest your own time, money, and sacrifice in building your first car(s), learn to race or show properly (and win), then look for sponsors to accompany you to the next level.
