Pros: The owner of the 240SX completed a full tuneup before we began the SR20DET powerpage. In search of more ponies, we installed three aftermarket components.
Cons: Horsepower figures vary depending on the mileage and condition of SR motors being transplanted into the 240SX's chassis. Nadine's SR is a 1996 180sx blacktop motor shipped from Japan with 30,000 miles, This car is driven on a daily basis, and used as drift car on the weekends.

Pros: Basic filter intall with all parts necessary to complete install within one hour or less. Cotton wire mesh designed filter with built in charge funnel and plentium frame to redirect air.
Cons: Because the filter is manufactered for the 180SX/ PS13 with SR20DET for Japan, the mounting bracket to the chassis will need to be modified to adapt to the body frame. Also the adapter pipe on the air mass sensor bracket will most likely not be used for the U.S.-spec application, depending on the installation/installer of the motor. Owner of the filter will have to choose between sealing up the hole in the adapter plate or installing the pipe and plugging up the end with a cap.

Pros: Significant horsepower and torque gains over baseline from 4000RPM to Redline, with a 23 hp increase at 6400RPM. The large 80mm piping along with the enormous stainless canister gave the 240 a race-bred appeal. 5Zigen also includes a card stating that the exhaust is a race-only model. The staff at 2NR thinks the race-only Construction makes the exhaust more appealing to the Consumers!
Cons: Very loud exhaust that will literally wake your neighbors up from three blocks down. The silencer will definitely come in handy when coming across the po-po's.

Pros: Mild steel piping reduces weight reduction over stock unit. 80mm piping is significantly larger than the stock SR downpipe, providing less backpressure for the SR motor. A gain of 4.1 peak hp and 5.2 lb-ft torque in peak hp were unleashed.
Cons: Old SR bolts were rusted tight, be careful when unbolting the stock unit. Instructions are written in Japanese but the installation is a no brainer and reading the directions isn't of upmost importance. Like men read directions anyways?!?

Conclusion: Final dyno charts showed a 23.3 increase in peak hp and a gain of18 lb-ft torque over baseline.The impressive hp and torque over stock figures are sure to appeal to any SR20DET owner out there. Regardless whether you're a drifter or a drag racer, the SR motor is one of the most popular motors out there for the Nissan community.
