Dyno 2: Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake
Pros
The Secret Weapon intake is a straightforward install, and it's handsomely polished and tastefully designed. The fitment is right on the money and all necessary hardware is included. Weapon-R designed the intake filter frame to also accommodate its optional ram air duct kit, adding versatility and flexibility to the system. We were able to make 109.3 hp and 95.8 lb-ft of torque, which could possibly have been higher with the ram air kit and some cooler air.
Cons
The pipe bracket is a bit hokey. We would have expected Weapon-R to weld the bracket to the piping. Also, no illustrations are included with the instructions.
Notes
The air temperature rose 2.5 degrees, which could have robbed us of potential horsepower. The intake pipe got a little heat soaked, so we waited awhile before making more pulls. Unfortunately, the intake charge wasn't getting any cooler. We lost a bit of torque in the low-rpm range but made up the difference in the midrange and after VTEC turned on. This install was straightforward, but we had to bend the mounting bracket ourselves and find a place to mount it. The instructions don't have illustrations and an inexperienced installer might get confused. The motor wasn't noticeably louder than with the factory airbox. Definitely a good thing when laying low from the fuzz.
