Dyno 3: Skunk2 Mega Power Exhaust System
Pros
The Skunk2 Mega Power exhaust is a well crafted stainless-steel unit that bolts right up and offers a much more aggressive look than the stock transverse muffler and dual tips. This exhaust has a nice deep tone, and doesn't suffer from farty-muffler syndrome when you open up the throttle. This system complimented the intake nicely, as we realized gains throughout the power band hitting peaks of 106 hp and 109.3 lb-ft of torque.
Cons
No real draw backs to the Skunk2 exhaust except some may find it a little loud. But the included silencer takes care of that problem. If your exhaust is as old as the one we removed (this was the original exhaust from 1990) then be prepared for a battle. All the WD-40 in the world couldn't help up get the bolts off the cat without sheering them first. Fortunately, Skunk2 had the foresight to include three brand-new bolts for the cat, so you'll be good to go--even if you do sheer those old bolts.
Notes
Remember the catalytic converter stores heat better and usually stays hot longer than other exhaust components. If you're impatient and want to get started, wear some Mechanix gloves or similar protection for those sensitive palms. WD-40 is your friend when it comes to hosing down rusty bolts and can make removing the hangers a snap.
