Power Enterprise
Power Impulse Ii Intake
183.9 Hp 129.8 Tq
Pros
Power Enterprise's Impulse air cleaner utilizes a funnel-type center intake system to increase ram pressure and decrease air resistance. This design enables the air to straighten as it enters the chamber and run along the sides of the filter, reducing turbulence. The midrange picked up a respectable 10 hp while 5 lb-ft of torque was seen from 3500 to red line.
Cons
The temperatures were scorching during our testing phase, so keeping ambient temperatures consistent throughout each of our runs was critical. We resisted the urge to run continuous, back-to-back dynos, as it might have caused the heat-soaked engine to provide false horsepower numbers.
Notes
The Power Impulse intake is a straightforward installation that requires minimal tools and less than an hour's time. The consumer can opt to remove the resonator box because all the factory intake components have to be removed in order for the new intake to fit properly.
Conclusion
After installing the parts, we test-drove the vehicle. The 9-hp and 2.8-lb-ft of torque gains were significantly noticeable throughout the midrange and higher rpm levels. Stay tuned as we search for more high-performance upgrades for the K20A in future issues. Uncapping the K-motor's potential has just begun.
