Pros
Increasing airflow to the turbocharger is as important as expediting exhaust flow. Allowing the turbocharger to breathe more freely will also increase turbo response, which in turn results in more power. The 5-inch conical filter keeps the debris out of the compressor housing while giving the turbocharger ample surface area to ingest charge air from.
Cons
The AEM cold-air intake will only work on the factory turbocharger, so if you upgrade to a different turbo, the intake must go bye-bye.
Parts
5-inch cone filter, adapter, brackets, aluminum intake tube, hoses and instructions.

Conclusion
Although the Evo is generating an additional 21.5 peak hp more than stock from three bolt-on upgrades, it is more impressive that the 4G63 engine is making over 35 more horsepower at the mid range over stock. Boost response is quicker and overall performance is substantially better. Now the Evo can easily take care of any would-be contenders in the ring without breaking a sweat. Be sure to check out next month as we go for more power in Part II.
