ConsDealing with any aftermarket product requires extensive knowledge on how to install and properly program the part to ensure it works correctly. Installation of the EVC is straightforward with schematics and diagrams to ensure your car won't go up in a ball of flame. Those who are vehicle and diagram illiterate should consider having a professional mount and wire up the EVC. The last thing you want is overboosting on the streets and damaging your engine.

NotesWith the factory boost set at 19psi on all MR EVOs, we performed our nest test using a HKS boost controller. Setting the new controller at 1.4 bar (20.5psi), we found using the HKS EVC VI for our final product as a good means of delivering additional power with plenty of room to grow in the near future. Although the dyno showed signs of a late start on activating the recording, our main focus was to see how the vehicle would respond from the midrange level to redline. The combination of tuning and only 1.5 psi more helped deliver a peak gain of 12 hp and 13 lb-ft of torque at 5700rpm. More importantly, we were able to tune and give the EVO a smoother graph, which proved to be beneficial if ever taken to the track for some spirited driving.
Conclusion

| Baseline | 267.1 | | 244.7 | |
| XS Engineering Reflash | 284.1 | 17 | 262.0 | 17.3 |
| A'PEXi GT Spec exhaust | 292.0 | 7.9 | 267.9 | 5.9 |
| HKS EVC VI Boost Controller | 299.7 | 7.7 | 270.5 | 2.6 |
| Final | 299.7 | 32.6 | 270.5 | 25.8 |
ConclusionIn less than a day's time, we managed to extract 32.6 hp and 25.8 lb-ft of torque over our baseline run. An impressive feat, considering the vehicle still possessed a factory downpipe, stock turbo, and 91 pump gas when we tested this vehicle. With 300 hp to the wheels, we found this EVO a blast to drive as engine response and power is a vast improvement over our stock 4g63.
