Pros
The AccessPORT allows users to upload pre-programmed maps to the ECU via the diagnosis port located below their car's steering wheel. Within minutes, one of the pre-installed performance maps or a custom map can be uploaded into the vehicle's ECU to alter and optimize air/fuel ratio, ignition timing and boost. Added features when using the AccessPORT include the ability to monitor fuel economy, troubleshoot ECU codes, estimate 0-60 and quarter-mile times, and even monitor real time data as you drive around town.

Cons
While the Cobb AccessPORT is sold as a simple plug-and-play reflash/tuning device, we highly recommend a qualified tuner to install and tune each vehicle with it. Simply bolting parts on an '08 STI without proper ECU tuning has spelled disaster for many engines.

Notes
Our final testing phase commenced with Drenas tweaking the fuel/ignition maps and AVCS timing while raising the boost to 20.21 psi. Using the AccessPORT, the STI managed to gain an additional 16 hp and 26 lb-ft of torque at peak output. The previous loss in hp and torque from 5,750 rpm to redline was quickly resolved with tuning, as the EJ25 gained 25 hp and 20 lb-ft of torque near redline.

Conclusion

HP Level +HP TQ Level +TQ
BASELINE 245.0   262.0
PERRIN EXHAUST W/ TUNE 275.0 30.0 307.0 45.0
INVIDIA DOWNPIPE 288.0 13.0 322.0 15.0
COBB TUNING (STAGE 2) 304.0 16.0 348.0 26.0
FINAL 304.0 59.0 348.0 86.0

Conclusion
With proper tuning and careful monitoring of the engine's A/F ratio, we were able to crank up the boost on our final run and provide solid power numbers from the STI. After improving output by over 90 hp and 88 lb-ft of torque at points throughout our STI's power band, the Subaru was now delivering an impressive 304 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque. Using a good aftermarket front-mount intercooler and turbo upgrade, we wouldn't be surprised to see this rocket-ship eclipse the 400hp marker in the near future.
