But Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. is here to change all that, beginning with their TUA-T550HD HD radio tuner: the small, hide-away box that can be connected to any of Alpine's 2007/08 model Ai-NET head units, can receive up to 1,800 digitally broadcasted AM/FM radio stations nationwide, with no cost or subscription fees. When tuned to an HD radio station, the head unit's display will list artist, album and song information for all stations that broadcast metadata, and offers iTunes Tagging functionality: When users hear a song they like on an HD Radio station, they can "tag" the song, purchase it and other music from the artist directly from iTunes, and even download it instantly for in-car play, using optional Alpine equipment.
