Low Temp Thermostat
Lower temperature thermostats can keep your engine running cooler, preventing heat-induced detonation. When an engine management system senses detonation, ignition timing is retarded and the engine loses power. Crucial Racing System's Coolsafe 160-degree thermostat operates at a lower temperature than factory, delivering an increase in cooling efficiency. Unique to the CRS thermostat's design and operation is its safety feature that fully locks the unit open (OEM units close when overheating) if the coolant runs dangerously hot or excessive air is present in the system. Testing the new thermostat in our Subaru project car resulted in lower coolant temperature by nearly ten degrees Fahrenheit, in blazing 107-degree temperatures.
