Love it or hate it, the car's positive response to modification has made it popular with gearheads since its debut over 30 years ago. The Si hatchback of the late '80s really started to get things moving and by the time the '00 Si Coupe rolled into showrooms, the tuner movement was in full swing. Honda may have missed the mark with the EM Civic-which the States got stuck with in 2001-but quickly redeemed itself with the release of the EP Si Hatch in later years and the Si Coupe that followed. This month we test Honda's newest Si Sedan offering and find the platform has only improved with age; its K20 banged out just over 172 whp at baseline-12 horses more than could be generated at the flywheel of the stock B16A-powered Si we all lusted after just years ago.

Photo Gallery: 2008 Honda Civic SI - Dyno 1: Baseline - Import Tuner Magazine

Admittedly, the Box does blur the definition of a 2NR car just a little, but with its strong fuel economy and impressive torque output (considering its displacement), the toaster continues to be a choice daily driver among tuners everywhere. And with the amount of bolt-on mods available that claim to increase its power output and fuel economy even more, we thought we'd prove what it's capable of. Besides, don't pretend its numbers don't mirror those of your first Civic back in the day...

Photo Gallery: 2004 Scion xB Power Pages - Import Tuner Magazine

Rated at 240 hp from the factory, the larger displacement F22C sports a broader powerband from a 2,157cc displacement while increasing its output to 162 lb-ft of torque over its previous models. Using a hybrid monocoque body and a high X-bone frame for body rigidity with 50/50 weight distribution, the S2K showcases a roadster that possesses exceptional handling, thanks to its re-tuned suspension and minor interior and exterior changes.

Photo Gallery: 2004 Honda S2000 Power Pages - Import Tuner Magazine
