im looking for a new car finally!!! my 2nd year of college is around the corner and my parents have agreed to make a donation for a new car! my old car was a 1998 sc400 wit custom intake, exhaust, chipped, nd a small aftermarket turbo along wit some aesthetic mods. ive saved up 20k, half donated by my parents :p , but im willing to go up to 25. the only real requirement i have in mind is that it has awd/4wd since my sc400 was terrible in the snow and i live in new england. im not against blowing it all on a stock car if its worth it, but if work needs to done, the final price cant go over my limit. some cars ive looked into are 08 wrx, 09 a4 2.0t, 03 a6 2.7t, 06 s60r, 08 335xi, nd a 04 cayenne turbo. these are all the cars ive researched in depth. this cars gonna be mostly for daily driving, so im really not looking for a manual. but i can drive stick, so if anyone has a car they strongly recommend only manual then id definitely consider it. if you guys could post like a top 10 list that meet my requirements of your personal favorites then thatd be awesome. this is really my last resort cause ive looked at a decent number of cars already and i just cant come to a decision. thanks everyone! :grin:

I finally got a car which I can actually say I own. It's a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS, that was previously a show-car with no performance mod's. My friend used it as his daily driver until it was in an accident, but it was mostly cosmetic damage. The car is basically stock. There are a few changes that he made for aesthetics, but everything else is factory. Now I like driving fast, and I decided that I wanted to experiment a little with this car. I have only the slightest idea, mechanically about cars. Is there anything you would recommend to help me get started? I'm looking for ways to increase the performance, but I want to be able to do most on my own. Any specific parts I should look for, any websites or books to teach tuning/modding, or any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

The IS300 is a quality car and honestly I have wanted one for a while. If I remember correctly, it comes with a Non-turbo 2JZ, which is a decent engine, but don't mistake it for a 2JZ-GTE because there are more differences than just the lack of turbo. so... i really messed up somehow i managed to break my 91 mr2 NA i guess i ran it without engine oil and i didnt know :/ (i know i totally *** up and im an idiot) anyway i was hoping maybe i could get some help i really need to figure out what to do? should i get a rebuild, is a rebuild worth it? about what would be the price to get a rebuild done? would it be cheaper to get a new engine and also i have read that the 90-93 celica is the same engine would it work on my car? would it cost the same if i just got the 3sgte? and is their any websites you would recomend where i could order the engine from i really could use some help with this guys thanks

Okay, so I was reading how somebody on here thought they could get and 11sec tracker out of bolt ons like a cold air intake and a tornado intake part...it won't happen in a tracker...The trackers dont have power and tornados barely work if at all, not to mention a cold air is going to give you probably a 5% increase in hp. Then four wheel drive was mentioned as an advantage, but trackers are toooooo low geared to go fast. And in a tracker, spinning all four tires wont happen unless you have posi, locking front hubs, and a bigger motor or on ice. Theres not much for performance with them and most bolt ons dont do anything significant like they say. Exhaust and cold air intakes are among the cheapest and result yielding bolt ons unless you spend the money for chips and tuners etc.
