I have been commissioned to put together a mini stock race car for clay tracks by march of 2011. I will list requirements at end but this will be my first import style project and its a tad out of my norm. I usually deal with older muscle drags and rat rods so any help is much appreciated. The vehicle has to be completely stock so I'm looking for the most bang I can out of a stock 4 cylinder. Models- -Any american/foreign made automobile 1994 year model or older, self aspirated only, no turbo or super chargers. -Front or rear wheel drives only, no all wheel or four wheel drives. -Maximum wheel base 103" -No rear engines Engine- -3 or 4 cylinder engines only, stock for make model and year. JDM replacement motors okay. -Cranking compression, hot off track at 180 lbs max. -No performance parts of any kind, no engine mods or enhancements. -No rotary engines. -No aftermarket ignitions -No mass air mods -No intake mods -No changing chips -No v-tech motors Exhaust- -Stock exhaust manifold only. -Stock exhaust system only. -Headers not permitted. -Stock or stock replacement mufflers required. -Muffler must not exceed 95 db@ 100 feet. Frames- -Stock frames only, no mods. Suspension- -Stock OEM parts only. no mods. -No racing shocks or springs. -No steering quickeners. Rearend, Transmission, Clutches, Flywheels- -Any stock trany for make, model and year. no mods. -Locking of rear ends or differentials allowed. -Stock unaltered rear end for that make model and year. -clutch pedal must remain stock for make model and yar. Minimum Weight- -Minimum weight required 2450 lbs, however, intentionally lightening of car which jeopardizes the integrity of car is not allowed. -Added weight OK. *note*- (Interior will be completely gutted and a modded 4 point cage will be installed which is basically a 6 point cage so havent accounted for weight change there yet.) Alright I never really had the motive to talk about this, but knowing the time of cleaning a air filter from a cold air intake can be a pain sometimes; we all been there. Knowing that I have to clean my cold air intake filter, it clicked in my brain, here is my story. I was at a PepBoys getting some new Hankook tires for my mustang, and while I was waiting for them to install them since I don't have the machininery in TX but in Japan I do-when I'm there. I saw a full stainless-steel meshed filter by SPECTRE. Now I question myself does this full stainless-steel mesh that shaped like a air filter work? I doubt it, but has anyone used one or bought one. Does it really work? I'M SURE IT DOES NOT WORK....BUT I MIGHT BE WRONG. AND PLZ DON'T CONFUSE IT WITH THE STAINLESS STEEL MESHED ONES WITH THE PAPER PLZ. I TALKING ABOUT FULL STAINLESS STEEL MESHED FILTER THAT HAS NO COTTON PAPER.

If I were you I would stay away from that deal. If they're missing parts like that it sounds like they may have been used as donor cars for another project. Plus, if those parts are missing, then who knows what else is missing or what kind of half done body/engine/electrical work there might be. on top of all that I just don't think they are worth it. It sounds like someone is just trying to get the cars off their hands and make some money on the way.

heers the story seems like my fuel pump is losing prime so instead of replacing the whole thing i was wondering if anyone knows if the standard fuel pump for that year has a block on it if i disconnect the electrical wiring i was thinking of going with a high end fuel pump thats puts out 4 to 7 psi and if this would work its a exterior pump that im looking at and just running a line off the new to the old one and suck the gas through the old one if someone could get back to me and let me know i heard it can be done just not sure

alirght, first post on here. heres my story, im lookin at an 04 eclipse GT 3L V6 5 Speeed. looks like a good car and i read some reviews on it not a whole lot of bad was said about the car. im hoping that somebody on here can be me some educated insight on whether or not i should invest in this car from personal experience. and even if anyone can throw out some problem areas the car is known for so i can check the car for such problems. any and all advice would be greatly appriciated.
